People like to blame things around them for being the cause of their personal problems. It wasn't my son that killed those people it was the music he listened to. I've heard it all. They've done it to several books, songs, movies, and video games in the past.

Re: The Middle Ages had Orcs?

Actually, yes. The middle ages did have orcs. Orc is Old English for Foreigner, monster or demon and was used to refer to the Normans invading Englaland in 1066.

EDIT- Well, technically that's actually the Dark Ages, not the Middle Ages. But most people don't know the difference anyway, and hey- the Normans were still controlling England during the middle ages anyway.

I honestly believe that the journalist in question has been under a rock for the past 20 years. I mean, you're writing for an online newsletter, and you have the internet at your disposal to do research. I bet he wrote it up using a an old typewriter and sent it to his editor via carrier penguin.

But that would require effort, and considering the cutbacks in the news industry he probably isn't being paid enough to care.

That's a very poor excuse for not doing a job that you are hired to do.
