Champions Online Devices

They've added some new devices to Champions Online in the C-Store. One is a growth item, the other shrinks the characters. The growth effects stack with the previous ones, although they did adjust one of the powers that used to be able to stack.

One point is the both C-Store powers are non-combat, so if you start fighting you quickly revert to normal size.

Yes, very sad. But flying around while shrunken with insect wings is still fun.

These two images are of my character 'Giantess' in Champions Online. Please note that the Growth devices must be purchased with Atari Tokens, which must be bought with real cash. They end up costing about $40 - $50 each. These images represent the largest I've been able to make my character.

If only my PC was up to par in terms of graphics, I would totally get Champions Online since it's free, now.

Yeah, but the free one forces character archetypes, meanign you can no longer build a Hero with any random powers. However, you can still pay to play and have that limitless potential, as well as several other perks of the Gold Account. However ,people like me that HAD a Gold Account, can still veiw their old Heroes, but I can't play my Goldies until I resubscribe... but at least they're still there ^_^

I was about to ask about that, but apparently Cryptic has ways of obtaining the monies. Still, I can't complain much since it's free. And, from what I remember playing the trial before the switch to F2P, the power sets are much, much better than DCUO's, in my opinion.

Yeah, Free to Play is built on getting you to buy either Gold powers, buffs, boosts. Problem is unless you've played the trial, most people probably won't know what their missing with the archtypes. At any rate, not buying growth power on the live server as its just cosmetic, unlike say the Werewolf one.

Per character. Super-shrinker and the Become Werewolf are the same, only the extra archtypes and costume stuff is across the board for all your characters.

The free to play option wouldn't be so bad if it didn't cut out over half the powersets. You can't even play a Force or Electric character at all if you're on a free account

I think they launched that free option way too early as they only put two powersets up in the store out of about half a dozen that are currently inaccessible to free players. I guess it's their way of pretending to add new content when they open those up for individual purchase in the C-store.
