Well That's no fun.
Well crap. Smashwords just updated their TOS and it bans Bestiality. Now normally I don't have a problem with that but the way they worded it really concerns me.
*Bestiality:* Until now, we didn?t have a stated policy regarding bestiality. I like animals. Call me old fashioned or hypocritical (I?m not a vegetarian), but I don?t want to be a party to anyone enjoying animals for sexual gratification, for the same reason we?ve never allowed pedophilia books. I don?t want to publish it, sell it, or distribute it. The TOS is now modified to reflect this. Note this does not apply to shape-shifters common in paranormal romance provided the were-creature characters are getting it on in their human form. Sorry I need to clarify it that way, but we don?t want to see bestiality erotica masquerading as paranormal romance. Look in my mind if the characters are both sentient at the time, its not bestiality if their quadrapedial. However if they're defining like this I have to seriously consider taking Addicted to Grace down. As the character wind up as a Dire Panther and a Sphinx. How far will this go? Will straight furry erotica also be banned? I have no idea. At the moment I'm thinking I just hang tight and see if they come after me. Also of issue is that smashwords is banning ALL erotica featuring non consensual sex. That will dump most of the bondage erotica over night. |

I don't get it. So they are taking stuff down if it is bestiality but they won't take stories down if they contain transformations in which the subject ends still sentient?

Re: Well That's no fun.
For the record, I never used Smashwords, but to their credit, it was nice that they addressed the TF crowd.
Then again, the restrictions just feel downright hilarious, if not a tad offensive, depending on who you ask. However, I'd rather not dig any further than I already have. Last edited by no-name; 02-24-2012 at 11:47 PM. |

Well, more work to do so as pay work here compared to ebook sites like Smashwords...

The problem is I have no idea where the line is drawn. As the rules state I have no idea with a Furry erotica is allowed or not. I assume it is simply because I hope thats the case. I just wish I had a leg to stand on.

So I'm guessing it's time to find a new place to host the stories. |
