Missed TF Opportunities in RE5

Anyone think that Excella from Resident Evil 5 should have transformed into "control plaga" type creature (similar to the transformations of Irving and the bosses of RE4)? As much as i like the concept , i do think it would have diminished the quality of the game. All major villains had some sort of epic transformation in which they became anthropomorphic monsters in RE4. I do believe that if Capcom chose to do the same with RE5, the game wouldn't have received as much praise, as the final encounters would be nearly identical to its predecessor. But I digress...

Still, anyone else think that an Excella transformation, albeit horrific, would be great?

Re: Missed TF Opportunities in RE5

Heh.. it's not really accurate to say they were anthropomorphic since they started out human. That term only applies if something not human gains human qualities.

That aside, I would have liked it if she had transformed into something... else. It was a nice setup to the TF, the moaning, screaming, her dropping to her knees, then to all fours for a minute... especially in that dress. But the end result wasn't very appealing... I think if played in slow motion at the moment of transformation, it will appear as though she is dissolving and the creature appears from that goo.

But yeah, something else woulda been better, something that still retained some of her features at least. I think the existing TF would have been a little better if they'd at least acknowledged the presence of her dress during it. Have it rip, tear, fall off and get left behind in the goo.. something.

my mistake on the nomenclature then.

It was kind of a let down, they built all that tension before the transformation and then nothing happened. Oh well.

Well, not nothing, it was still technically a TF. But it could and should have been way better. The boss fight itself was cool, and I guess they needed a reason to incorporate the orbital laser so it had to be a massive monster. *sigh* Oh well, maybe next time.

I wanted to see Sheva become something. Kinda like Steve Burnside in RE Code Veronica.

Every game is going with the satellite laser bosses nowadays. As much as I love Gears of war, it made everyone want hammer of dawn wannabe's in their games.

And yes mona, I agree a sheva transformation would be nice too.

I still find it hilarious that a mixture between the T and G viruses resulted in a male to female transformation.

nobody has said that irving injected himself with uruboros. Aside from the final boss and the 3 uruboros bosses, all other enemies are strains of las plagas mixed with other viruses known in the series. The word majini is simply the term the African locals used to describe the las plagas outbreak. Plus, the game seems to place emphasis that uruboros is not injected, but an airborne virus, which is why [SPOILER] Wesker plans to dump the virus into the atmosphere to distribute it..

Actually, I don't believe that's true. According to what I gathered during my playthroughs of the game, the Ouroboros virus doesn't actually turn its host into anything, except perhaps for Wesker who might have been accepted by it. What it does is when it rejects the host, it eats the host in order to reproduce itself into the goo forms that we almost exclusively see it in. Excella was really just eaten up, the virus devouring her and using the tissue to reproduce.

I was disappointed, but I have to agree with TF-Viewer. The setup for the entire thing was incredibly sexy.

Hmm, should probably mention this contains slight spoilers for anyone who hasn't completed the game.

I'm pretty sure that the Uruboros is a parasite that mutates it's host. I'd have to check over the in game files but I believe the different reactions it's victims suffer is based on whether or not their bodies are rejecting the process (the villains described it as Uruboros rejecting the person though). Wesker stated that Uruboros rejected Excella. It was the same reaction we saw in an earlier boss fight when the test subject was apparently "not worthy". In Excella's case, her body ended up absorbing the nearby bodies of many dozens of infected test subjects. As far as Irvine goes, he was given something else, whether it was just a dose of the G virus or if it was Uroborus treated with the G Virus I'm not sure. What is known though, is that Wesker was taking doses of the T virus for years, his body was actually designed to use it, and that it's interaction with Uroboros allowed him to control it.

Uroboros isn't a virus at all, it's a parasite. If Wesker had released it into the air it would probably have drifted around the world in the form of spores that people would inhale.

Re: Missed TF Opportunities in RE5

Uhm, from what we saw in the rest of the game, Excella becoming infected by the Ouroboros would have simply turned her into a shapeless, writhing mass of tentacles.

For an RE virus, it's kind of a one-trick horse.

I miss the T-virus with all its crazy nuances :<
