Magazine formats from days gone by...
I remember back in the day when PC Gamer gave out a demo cd out with their magazine each month. Funnier when you went to the store to get the issue to find that each copy was missing its disc.
So what old magazines do you remember having neat things like that |

Re: Magazine formats from days gone by...
I remember Nintendo Power... Just received the last two volumes earlier last month, but the wait time made me think I'd been conned out of my money, you know? They almost always had a poster of some kind, and more than half of my room is covered in those posters (well, as much as 9-10 posters will cover, anyway).
Also, I remember the different bonuses that either came with them or came with the renewal orders. I got T-shirts, a Smash Bros. orchestra music CD, and recently, some Kid Icarus: Uprising AR cards. *sigh* How I will miss you, Nintendo Power...

Re: Magazine formats from days gone by...
I was always amused by the divide between US and UK gaming magazines, where with UK ones it was almost unheard of for non-cartridge systems to not have a cover tape/floppy disk/CD/DVD-ROM.
I really liked PC-PowerPlay a few years back including anime episodes on their cover DVDs (yes, dubs but still interesting), but trumped by the posters and cards I used to get with SuperPLAY (UK SNES mag). Part of that may because due to next child I'm being forced to clean-out my old computer room and I'm slowly re-reading each issue and feeling so terribly old.

Hey, don't knock old dubs. Not all of them were great, but some of them are still good even by today's standards. Then again, I'm looking back on the nineties with cowboy bebop, and yu yu hakusho.

Re: Magazine formats from days gone by...
On the thing about Nintendo Power, if you just subscribed it can take 2 months for the first issue to arrive..outside that I know what you mean about the posters from them. But, alas i know how we all feel about the old versions of magazines we used to know and love. PC gamer became mostly ads about computer parts and such, very little about actual gaming information about upcoming PC games...
