My first post? *updated and revised*
Hi, I've been around for a bit, but haven't had anything really process-y to post.
Sooooo....I was playing in Carrara and came up with this little number. My intention was someone towards the end of or possibly in the middle of a truly ridiculous growth spurt. Hope you like ![]() *Update!* When i made this picture is was part of a deal with Mr. Grildrig, I make the picture he makes the story. Sort of a mutual incentive deal ![]() ANYHOO, after this pic (which really doesn't seem to have been that popular, oh well.... heh...) he had all these questions about the character and what was going on in the image. Like is she surprised or happy with the growth? Is she still growing? What's her name? Etc, etc... Well, I hadn't named her anything except for "Experiment #1" . And as for whether she was still growing, I shared with him a frame grab from an animation I was working on based on the original picture. I've attached it below. And he wrote the story, which is right here: Mauvaises Lettres: Growing Appeal Scott Grildrig 16-Sep-2007 Disclaimer: This short story accompanies ntsly?s picture ?The Larch?. I think it?s safe for all ages, but then I think that fried Twinkies are a pretty good idea, so what the hell do I know? She didn?t run. She didn?t dawdle. There was urgency in her flight, but no panic. Her amber eyes regarded the world with as much wonder as alertness. Her fingers brushed the rough bark of a scotch pine in curiosity, but she didn?t linger, she continued onwards. She moved silently, with no crunching of twigs or rustling of leaves. Her jumpsuit rendered her nearly invisible, a fleeting shadow darting among the trees and rocks. === = === = === The ATV?s slowed to an orderly halt near the base of a steep hill. Danforth removed his helmet, hooking the chinstrap over his handlebar. His gray hair was close cropped to his head. His pale blue eyes scanned the area quickly and efficiently. With a frown he tapped his earpiece once, ?Report.? ?Alpha, Collins here, no contact.? ?Gamma, Borelli, no contact.? ?Hold position, and wait further orders? said Danforth. He turned to the man on his left. ?We have three hours. When nightfall arrives can we pick her up on infrared?? ?No, sir, her suit will reduce her IR profile to the size of a rabbit.? Danforth shook his head. ?If I wasn?t ordered to take her immediately I?d let the elements have her. She alone, isolated, and the chances of anyone else finding her are slim.? He ran his fingers over his short hair and looked around, his lips pressed tightly together. He tapped his fingers to his ear twice,? Base, this is Danforth.? ?Base, reading you.? ?Sir, we?re not likely to locate her before night, and we have little chance of finding her in the darkness. Without a clear direction we face an area of search too large for our current man power. In my opinion this operation cannot be concluded quickly.? ?Understood, implement the plan as we discussed it.? ?Implement the plan, understood, Danforth out.? He shook his head and reached into his vest pocket, pulling out a small device that looked like a cell phone. ?I am not thrilled with this plan,? he muttered ?you don?t fire a weapon just to find it.? === = === = === She paused. The distant sound of motors differed dramatically from the noises nature produced, though she was more acquainted with the former than the latter. She brushed her rough cut red hair back from one pointed ear and listened. Her eyes closed in concentration. She heard words, not clearly enough to discern what was being said, but well enough to gauge their direction. Turning away she resumed her ground eating pace. === = === = === Danforth tapped his ear once. ?Listen carefully. Deploy your teams like we discussed back at base. Stay alert. Report anything.? He turned to the men in his group. ?This is as good a position as any. Form the circle.? He flipped open the device in his hand and entered the passkey on its little keypad. === = === = === She gasped and stumbled, clutching wildly at a larch, panting heavily as warring forces engaged within her body. The Call brooked no denial, it pounded at her will, demanded her instant obedience. But she was past that now, and the same obstinate determination that led to her escape served her now. Her breathing evened out. She pushed back from the tree, noting without expression the splintered wood. Looking back the way she came she sighed deeply. She bought time for herself, nothing more. The Call would follow her, beating at her resolve, wearing her down. Perhaps they would listen to reason. Closing her eyes she concentrated a moment, located the voices. Then she loped in their direction as the pressure mounted. === = === = === ?Is that thing working, sir?? Danforth frowned and glanced around. ?It?s always worked before. I have a hard time believing that she?s out of range. Still, anything is possible,? and he pushed a few more buttons. === = === = === With a low cry she tumbled to the soft loam, her fingers clawing at the soil, her mind in turmoil as she struggled against the urgency of the Call. She blinked her amber eyes and concentrated, her fingers squeezing into fists as she contained the pressure. After a minute she rose up on shaking legs, her teeth bared as she regained control. A warm glow filled her, rife with energy, pulsing with possibilities, but she was in command of it again. She began to run, discarding caution, knowing now that it was a race between her ability to keep herself in check and the implacable authority of the Call. === = === = === A tone sounded in Danforth?s ear. He ignored it. He had nothing to report back to base, and it was pissing him off. He tapped the earpiece once. ?Attention. I?m going to flush this bitch out. I don?t believe that she?s out of range. That means that she?s found a hiding spot. Well, it?s not going to hide her much longer.? He stabbed fiercely at the buttons. A soft cry sounded off to the left. Danforth and his men whirled in that direction, guns drawn as she staggered downhill between two trees and fell to her knees. Her eyes blazed golden with barely restrained power. Cerulean sparks lifted her red hair, wound round and down her body, coruscated from fingers, crackled through the ground around her, scenting the air with the ozone of a summer storm. Danforth dropped his gun and fumbled with the controller, punching in the numbers. ?Too late,? she said. === = === = === Gamma team was tense, each man focused on his bit of scenery to survey. A nearby cow was something of a distraction, the bell around its neck making hollow clanking noises as it bent its head to graze. Borelli rubbed the barrel of his gun and thought about steaks. The radio crackled in his ear, and for a brief instant a sound of screaming came through it before it went dead. It was loud, and the men turned around. ?Maintain surveillance,? Borelli snapped, and he rubbed at his ear. He tapped it once, but there was no response. Reaching for his binoculars he glanced at the hill in the distance. Alpha team was beyond it, but there was nothing to see. The earth trembled. === = === = === Collins looked with distaste at the stub of his cigarette. He flicked it away into the river, watching it swirl away with the current. He didn?t have much use for nature, but this wasn?t a bad place. Maybe with a bit of development it could be turned into something. The scream in his ear was completely unexpected. He swore and ripped the earpiece out, staring at it in the palm of his hand. A second later it went dead. He tapped at it. ?Sir,? asked one of the men ?is everything okay?? ?Screaming isn?t okay, Myerson. The hell with Danforth and his fucking search patterns, that came from his direction, let?s see what?s going on.? He put his helmet on, and the ATV?s roared forward, following the river towards the hill in the distance. === = === = === The barriers of her mind fell before the onslaught of the Call. She cried out as limitless power exploded within her, unleashing the ravening energies graven into her very cells. The violence of it suffused her body, blotted out her senses for a moment, so all she was aware of was the warmth spreading through her limbs. The warmth turned to heat. The heat ignited. She opened her eyes, and she began to grow. === = === = === A sirocco arose around Experiment #1. Danforth shouted and his men began to fire, but to no avail. Puffs of incandescent smoke marked the impact point of each armored shell. He pushed the buttons on the controller, pointing it at her, but the crackling discharge rendered the device useless. She knelt there, her arms out, her palms facing upwards, her head tipped slowly back. There was a look of serenity on her face. She was oblivious to them, oblivious to the world around her. Lightning forked from her body to the trees, blasts of it tearing chunks in the ground, the effect widening. One prodigious bolt struck near to Danforth, he yelled as his earpiece heated up, and he clawed at it and hurled it away. Bending down he retrieved his gun, and jumped onto his ATV. ?Get the hell out of here!? he shouted. No one could hear him over the mounting electric storm, but they had no doubt about his intentions. They all mounted up and took off. But it was too little, too late. The storm stopped, and Experiment #1 sighed and began to grow. Progress was swift. She took a deep breath and her jumpsuit strained across her heavy breasts, it bound around her tight tummy and stretched over her thighs. The material reached its limit in a second. It shredded, ripped and tore loudly. She grew. The loam of the forest vanished under her as she grew more gigantic, sinking under her weight until the compressed soil was buoyed by the underlying bedrock. Her widening hips pressed up against the trees bracketing her. They shivered and shook, leaves swirling down as their trunks bent over from the force pressing against them. She glanced at them, but she did nothing to spare them. The power coursing through her body brooked no rival, though it did nothing to alter her native curiosity. She smiled as the trees broke and toppled. And she continued to grow faster and faster. Ahead of her the ATVs sped down the hill, bouncing and skidding. Danforth was in the lead, and he had the throttle opened flat out, his heart pounding in his chest as he was forced to slow down to take a turn. A quick glance back gave him no comfort as he spotted trees swaying and falling over. The ground shook, dislodging rocks, sending them bouncing and rolling along with the men. An ATV to the left hit a large stone, flinging its rider into the air, flipping him into the side of a tree. Danforth snarled and sped up, defying the detris. A long, black shadow obscured the sun, sending darkness racing ahead of the team. They hit a broad curve bearing to the right, their tires skittering on the dirt. A small tree swayed and toppled, forcing Danforth to ease back, his men arrowed past him, raising a pall of dust. He jammed the throttle, but even as his ATV leapt forward he spotted something from the corner of his eye. To his right something was plowing through the forest, smashing down trees, flattening everything in its path. It was her knee. He risked a glance back, and it was nearly enough to spill him. She was thousands of feet tall, and still getting more gigantic. She filled the valley between the hills, and he and his men were racing the vanguard of her growth. She was looking down at him. It wasn?t an angry glance. It wasn?t friendly, either. It observed his progress with a simple matter-of-fact carelessness that sent ice running through his blood. Looking ahead, he gritted his teeth. His men were far ahead of him now, but it didn?t gain them a damn thing. The adjoining hill was still large enough to prevent her from growing in that direction, with the result that her right leg was sliding to the left almost as fast as it was growing. Whole stands of trees shook violently and slammed over as her warm flesh covered them, the ground shaking and trembling in the throes of a woman-made quake. Though she did nothing overt, took no special action, she merely continued to grow. His men tried to reach a switchback, but her inner leg blocked their path. The lead ATV skidded on the hard packed dirt, bounced and struck her, before the man could crawl away her growing leg covered him. The others had more success in stopping, but less in escaping. Three of the men abandoned the trail, taking their chances in a mad flight between the trees. The fourth man pounded his fists on his ATV as it stalled. He tried to start it while her growing leg came closer and closer. Danforth watched as he jumped off the machine, hurling his helmet away. He sprinted for his life, and it wasn?t enough. As she grew the ground buckled and broke. He stumbled and fell, and a moment later his shrill screams were silenced. Danforth looked up at her in a blind rage. Her eyes were still on him, looking down from vast height. He grabbed his gun and fired at her. She smiled slightly. If the bullets even reached her, she never felt them. Throwing the gun away he turned and sped down the hill. === = === = === Growing is pleasure, they thought they taught her otherwise, but no matter how horrifying the training they put her through, she knew the truth. Trees broke against her, and at first they hurt a bit, but as she gained in height they dwindled in their effect. Her senses remained highly tuned, and she followed the progress of the tiny machine as they raced ahead of her. She felt no malice towards them, but neither any pity nor remorse. This situation was of their design; it would be up to them to extricate themselves from it, if they were able. So she did nothing to spare the little machines. Some vanished beneath her. She had no illusions about their fate. The others became a little harder to see as they fled the main trail, fleeing pell-mell among the trees. Her growth was relentless, and for a moment she turned her attention away from them, looking in curiosity at the world around her. The hill to her right was more accessible now; she could place her hand atop it, if she wanted. The river to her left was still a small distance away, but soon it too would be in reach. A larch atop the hill amused her for some reach, and she idly stroked it with her finger, it felt impossibly soft and delicate. When next she glanced down there was no sight of the men. She was large enough now that they were truly beneath her. Taking a deep breath she tipped her head back. There was a marvelous tension in her body that demanded easing. Curling her hands into fists she arched her back, stretching her muscles, feeling them rippling with power. At her size gravity felt very meager. It hurt a bit, growing like this, but it was worth a little pain. With a sigh she glanced to her right, and she smiled. === = === = === Collins didn?t believe his eyes. She rose from behind the mist covered hill like a goddess, her red hair shimmering in the sun, her amber eyes gleaming with something that looked more like satisfaction than anything else. She stretched, leaning back, thrusting her huge breasts forward, her right hand lifting, her fingers curling into a fist. A low moan rumbled across the land like the threatening growl of a summer storm, and the ground underfoot trembled and shook as she stretched herself. When she relaxed she glanced in Collin?s direction and he damn near pissed himself. But that was nothing to the ensuing chaos as she turned a bit in the direction of him and his men, reaching out with an arm that must have measured miles. Strident yells erupted from the team as they spun their ATVs around. Her hand grew and grew and grew, filling the sky, capable of covering the better part of a city block. Collins knew it was hopeless, but he hit the throttle and hung on grimly as the machine bounced along the rough country road. Her massive finger struck the ground and sank into it, gouging a colossal furrow. Without any fuss she slowly drew a circle around the cow, which looked up from its grazing, but otherwise took no especial notice of the situation. Collins glanced back and came to a skidding stop, his laughing filling the air. His team stopped as well, and they all got a chuckle from the sight of the cow isolated by a huge, empty moat. She may have been unbelievably gigantic, but she didn?t seem to be an immediate threat. Though it was clear she was still growing, her body reaching high into the blue sky, until some of the clouds were brushed by her shoulders. So it was a complete surprise when she wriggled a bit, and the hill against her right thigh exploded from the fantastic pressure growing against it. Rocks the size of buildings rose into the air, but most of the mound spilled forth as a huge, rumbling avalanche. Collins turned pale and started to flee, but it was much too late. Boulders the size of trucks bounced with subsonic thuds, bigger chucks rolled over everything in their path. Collins and he team vanished in a thunderous roar of granite destruction. When it was all over the cow continued to graze, the furrow around it choke with rocks. It wasn?t a contented cow, the dust made the grass taste funny. === = === = === She smiled at the cow, a miniscule speck of black and white on an expanse of light grey green. There was no sign of the little men or their machines. But that was their problem. She wriggled again, the hill still pressed against her, but she was able to budge it out of her way. On her left she felt a moist, wet kiss, and she glanced down on that side. === = === = === A tone sounded, ?Borelli here.? ?Base, we?ve lost Danforth. Report.? ?I?m on my way right now to?? his voice trailed into silence as he took in the scene before him. ?Report!? ?What the fuck was Danforth thinking?! She?s only supposed to be thirty feet tall. Dammit, base, something is wrong. Experiment #1 is -- Christ, I don?t know ? three hundred feet tall, and growing faster every second. Williams, you have the best eye for this, what you do see?? ?She?s doubling her height about every minute, sir.? Borelli swore. ?Did you get that, base? She?s doubling every minute. How the hell is that even possible?? ?Maintain contact, we?ll have orders for you momentarily.? ?Bullshit!? Borelli yelled, and he added a mocking ?sir. You don?t have a clue what?s going on. Well, it?s survival time, I?m getting me and my men out of here. Over and out,? and he pulled the ear piece out and tossed it aside. ?Come on, we?re leaving.? And his engine roared as he spun around, racing back down the path along the river. The ground trembled and shook without cessation. Trees by the river swayed and shook. Then, one particular large bounce rippled through the earth. One of the men had his machine bounce; he was tossed, his body sliding down off the path towards the river. Collins and his men came to a stop, running to help. They were on the bank when they heard the rumbling roar. A moment later a vast wall of white water swept down the riverbed, scouring the sides of trees and rocks. The men vanished in the churning destruction. While miles away, she dabbed at the moisture against her bottom, having fun flicking her fingers through the narrow wet ribbon trickling over the landscape. === = === = === There was never a sky like this. Danforth lay next to his smashed bike, his legs bent at a painful angle. When she wriggled she sent massive tremors through the ground. He and the other men were flush dozens of feet into the air. As near as he could tell he was the only survivor. Now he stared up and mulled over the lessons of power. She was his world now, her thighs wall him in, and her womanhood formed his sky. He felt impossibly small and helpless. And still she grew. He felt it in the way the ground shook. He saw it as her impossibly huge thighs spread further apart, and as the sky rose above him endlessly above him. When she moved he rode it out as best he could. It seems impossible that only twenty minutes earlier he had been in control, and she on the run. She rose up slowly, massive windstorms accompanying her every movement, the ground rocking and rippling as she carefully and gently lifted to her feet. The clouds brushed against her knees, her body foreshortened from this perspective, her warm flesh blued and blurred by the intervening atmosphere as she stood miles tall. He couldn?t see her face, but he knew in his soul which way she looked, and what she intended. She took a step, a slow, powerful step, no doubt gentle enough on her scale, but vast tracts of the landscape vanished under her bare toes. And Danforth chuckled as a massive wall of heaving rock and dirt sped towards him from the point of impact. === = === = === She watched the way the dust spread from her foot in a ring of smoke. Her growth was under control for the moment, though the yearning to get bigger was still inside of her, along with the power to make it real. Everything looked quite different from this height, but she knew where the base was. She thought it would be nice to pay them a visit and show them what their experiments had wrought. The earth shook with every careless footfall as she strolled towards the tiny stand of buildings. Behind her the cow paused grazing. It glanced up at her retreating form, chewing a bit of cud. It ambled after her, its bell clanking forelornly, until it reached the jumble of rocks, and there it stood mooing, as she vanished over the horizon... ?end? Very Nice Vista ntsly. I was wondering about Carrara myself, looks like it does very nice work, but the cost is kinda to high for me. Looking forward to seeing more from you fellow CGer.
