For those who weren't fans, during the .hack/Quantum OVA one of the characters, Eri, was killed in game, she later appeared as the antagonist's minion

I think her converted appearance is rather interesting as its a corrupted composite of her real life/in game appearance

:hack/sign always annoyed me as it had a concept I found interesting but it didn't play it out very well.

I didn't follow it through but didn't the game world affect the players to some degree? One character was stuck in the game world (couldn't log out), another died or went into a coma or something?

Anyway I always thought it had EC potential with reprogramming of characters and through them their players.

Thats correct, when a character gets hacked, their real body goes into a coma, while their mind still continues in the game trapped, it becomes real to them in the context that they can't leave and they now feel physical pain in game.

Character corruption in the game actually happens in pretty much every .hack series
- Though none of it extends beyond the game into real life other than going into a coma, also in game it usually only amounts to being a mindless minion or berserker rage

Well, I might take a look at it if it comes out in English. And proper English, if I might add. *Glares at .hack//G.U. Trilogy*

Though I'll also say this- .hack//Roots killed my interest in further .hack anime. If something could be done wrong, Roots did it.

Watched the whole thing already. Not bad. But I can understand why //Roots killed your interest. Only shed light on minor details that the three G.U. games didn't find necessary, and for good reason. As for the MOVIE G.U. Trilogy... eh. Corruption of Atoli was cool, as well as Haseo's B-st form, but other than that, skip it, unless you're a diehard fan like I am.
