BE RPG Prototype
No pictures. Move along.
Now, for the 2% of you who are interested in something other than lurking for pics, I have posted here a very first-pass, just started prototype for a BE RPG. It is done with RPG Maker XP, and so far only has one small (badly done/barely noticable) BE. This is kind of to gauge interest and call for artists/morphers who want to do work on this kind of thing. For those of you who can download it, rename the extension to .exe, run it, have the RPG Maker XP runtime installed, can play it, and can get through the game so far and see the BE, feel free to post comments. Edit: Added candy's new art (yay thank you!), and updated a few other things to make it more complete. Continue reading thread for more details. Last edited by tsokei; 07-12-2006 at 02:01 AM. |

Firstly, it would seem that my version of RPGMaker XP could use some updating; I had to hunt down the RGSS102E.dll file from the expanse of the Internet, because my "RPGMaker XP 1.01 - Postality Knights Edition 2.0" came with the incompatible RGSS100J.dll library (specifying it in the .ini allowed the game to run, but there was no visible text).
...Anyway, you had some pretty basic stuff going on there--very basic. If you want people to join up with you, I'm gonna have to suggest you try demonstrating something more complex, like a timed day/night system or something; that'll show that you really know your way around the event editor. You'll also want to either know the Ruby scripting language yourself, or find someone who does; if you don't take advantage of it, you may as well be making the game with RM2k. I also don't know what you mean by "rename the extension to .exe" when installing--it works fine to just extract the zip to wherever using WinRAR or whatever. Lastly, I couldn't figure out what that magic seed thing was for... Ah, well; I wish you luck with this venture of yours. I hope it doesn't end up like so many other RPG Maker projects--people begin by thinking it'll be a snap, realize that it actually does take a lot of work, and then end up abandoning the project before it ever really gets anywhere. |

Since that's border line request, I won't give a direct link, but I'll give you a hint.
Google is your friend. |

This is a perfect example of not understanding the request rule. There's nothing wrong with linking, the rules apply to attachments if you take the time to look. |

Seriously, go to Google and search for rgss102e.dll download and it's on the first page. I don't believe it was the first result, but still it isn't that hard to find. Besides, you can see the original sprite and the modified one by just looking at the image files in the root directory. |

Looks like a neat idea. However, RPG Maker projects tend to rapidly spiral beyond the creator's ability to complete them, so I'll just sit back and cross my fingers. I wish you the best of luck, but keeping a team together is not an easy task.

problem
I got a RGSS-RTR Standard NAO ENcontrado Error. What do I do???
EDIT: Fixed it should have read the post before posting. I've played many RPG's and this may become a good one in time. Great job so far and keep it up. Last edited by Gagecoalbrace; 07-10-2006 at 12:00 AM. |
