Witch TF in Oz The Great and Powerful

Mila Kunis' character undergoes a witch tf in the new "Oz The Great and Powerful" flick. Anyone seen it?

Yeah...very disappointing. Two tfs - both offscreen. Very disappointing entry by Raimi. Not least because despite the visuals it's virtually a mirror in plot progression and character development to Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

At least we had Mila Kunis wearing boots and tight leather pants for a few minutes.

Such a grand opportunity for the mother of all witchy TFs (think AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON with green skin), and from the guy who made the EVIL DEAD movies, no less...completely botched.

Maybe the Disney executives thought a more elaborate transformation would traumatize too many children. Clearly they never saw what happened to Lampwick in PINOCCHIO.

Maybe it's because of how famously horrific the transformation in Pinocchio was that they've been avoiding doing them that way ever since. Disney's not really in the business of making kids piss themselves with fear. They probably have a quality control system in place to monitor how freakishly horrifying a transformation can be; which could explain how they're mostly 'poofs' or off screen these days. The TF in Brave for example, in the concept art it was shown to actually have on screen process, but in the final release it all happened under a blanket.

^Indeed; apparently, the age progression scene at the end of the film was toned down for the final cut, to avoid dwelling on it and upsetting children.

I think this film was great because it is the opposite of Alice in Wonderland. It keeps to the spirit of Frank Baum's work rather than trashing it for a Narnia/Lord of the Rings rip off that clashes with the tone, like they did with Alice. The Alice stories are never about a traditional heroes journey, where Oz is very much that, in each story a hero has to find their way, be it Dorthy, Tip becoming Princess Ozma, or in this case, Oz deciding to use what he knows to try and stop the witches.

It's a lot of fun, has great characters, and while it has pacing issues, so does the original Wizard of Oz.

if you go in looking for some TF hotness, I have no idea what to tell you.

I thought the movie was mediocre with our without any TFs to be honest. Hell, DR. JEKYLL & MS. HYDE has terrific TFs, but I wouldn't dare recommend it to anyone else. OZ doesn't have much of anything, IMO.

That's not to say it's not a good movie - I quite enjoyed it. And the China Girl is one of the best pieces of CGI I've seen all year.
