Working on my art (improvements so far)

I'm working hard to get my art looking more interesting to people more thanks to some of you guys. Other than that I still need some improvements on some stuff.

I have a Mac computer right know (new) so i need some stuff so that my art can improve more.

Scanner for a Mac
Art program For the Mac
The Bamboo pen for a Mac
Animation studios for a Mac

For my pictures ( http://octorber13.deviantart.com/ can see here) is getting better, for a start. But I'm still trying to find ways on making it better. If you want to help me out than that will be great, if not the sorry for wasting your time.

Tell me what you think?

I'm no uber artist myself, but here are my 2c..

First things first, please don't take offense, but you need to hear this:

First learn how to draw. The way you're drawing is now is "Oh the face comes down in a certain curve, I'll just copy that. and this connects to this and it's all a jigsaw puzzle"

This leads to very flat paper-mario looking characters with no depth (see attached image) It makes your characters look very formulaic and robotic.

Start off by just drawing circles for the head and major body parts. add some construction lines to mark off faces and direction. Steven Sanchez is doing some GREAT video tutorials on his deviantart page, check them out.

Creating a character with depth is the most basic part of drawing. No matter how much shine you put on a flat image. No matter what great inking, coloring, shading, highlighting you slap on.. it'll still look flat. So get that done first.

Once you've got your character's skeleton up it's a simple matter to draw over it adding detail and make it shine.
