Finally: A good use for Poser...

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in this, but recently I came across a really neat use for poser, which cannot be accomplished using pen and paper.

Namely, stereo pairs.

The technique is accomplished by using the same image rendered from two slightly different camera angles. It shouldn't be two difficult to accomplish.

To view it, you have to cross your eyes so the two images line up over each other. Then focus. It's a bit trippy, but once you get it, it's pretty cool. It's really 3D, versus the cheesey two color stuff that involves glasses.

In any case, i was wondering if anyone is interested in doing this sort of thing. It's certainly a pretty cool application of 3D stuff.

Um, that's a bad way of doing it. Not only may you cause injury to your eyes if you force them to cross. (it's actually quite true) Then it's not comfortable to do and the focus is bad.

It's not a bad idea though.

That is pretty cool. I'd like to see more. ^^

BTW, you can do that with pencil and paper.

Have you tried? It's Fucking hard! You can do some simple 3D effects with editors, but making it appear truly 3 dimensional is purely the realm of computers.

Completely different subject, but have any of you ever seen the (f)animutations by Andrew Kepple? He uses something he's dubbed ST3R3-O-VISION in a few of them, which is pretty much identical.

Hey good stuff; not bad, not bad at all. Now, how do we get some process going with this? Could start with a two-image sequence or something. Anyway thanks for posting. ^_^
