Monkeyman and O'Brien

Hey everybody. I have quite a comic book collection (8,300+) and there are a number of pages in my collection that I think you'll find relevant to your interests. They are to mine!

Monkeyman and O'Brien was a pretty cool comic created by Arthur Adams in which a machine brings a ten-foot-tall, hyper-intelligent ape named Axwell Tiberius. Ann O'Brien is near the machine when this happens, and exposure to... something causes her to grow to a height of seven feet and become strong and muscular. That's not all, though - there was once a story where she just kept growing and growing, and I'll get to that. First, I've scanned the pages I think are relevant from the origin story. These are the ones attached to the post.

Now, on to the Giantess story. It goes as far as any one I've ever seen (space and so forth). It's from a series of free "newspapers" Dark Horse used to print with strips of their popular series. It was supposed to be a lark, so it is an incredibly silly story, but it's fun and she does grow like crazy. You can actually view it here in psuedo-animated form circa 2000, but I tried to put it into a more permanent form for us. Because of zooming and panning on that site, it wasn't easy to make static pages, so forgive a bit of sloppiness.

I seem to have hit an upload limit, so see this story on my photobucket album Here.

Hmm. I've seen the dream sequence one for years, but never that origin story one. It's almost better.

Re: Monkeyman and O'Brien

Just to add some helpful information if a person wants to own this story...
This was a 4 parter in the back of Hellboy, printed by Dark horse comics.
Just go to any collector shop and look for that book. I have these and the first time I opened that issue with O'Brien growing and reading 'her' account of what was happening, I got weak in the knees.
Anyway, hope this is useful to someone.

I had completely forgotten that Ann got superpowers, and I used to read Dark Horse religiously.

For anyone that hasn't read the growing story, here ya go http://www.darkhorse.com/Features/An...ien?part_num=1

Re: Monkeyman and O'Brien

It's true that it's a backup from "Hellboy: Seed of Destruction," but it was collected in a comic called "Meet Monkeyman and O'Brien,"which is what I scanned it from.

Re: Monkeyman and O'Brien

There is also a graphic novel out, that's a collection of all the Monkeyman and O'Brien work, including the giantess story. It is also mentioned, and shown (with no process) later in the series, that her sister who was in the lab underwent a similar transformation although not as dramatic as she was already pretty tall.

Hope this helps.
