Worst Day Ever

I feel really alone and sorry for myself. The only thing that has the ability and interest to spend time with me is a cat that won't let me touch it and to whose dander I'm having an allergic reaction. I'm uncomfortable - itchy and my tummy and feet hurt. I put on ten pounds over the week and a half I've been in the city, drinking and dining, and I'm embarrassed and mad. I'm tired of sleeping on a hardwood floor. I want my bed. But I'm dreading returning to the village, knowing how isolated and alone I'll be once more. In the city, surrounded by all these people I know though, I also feel very alone.

What's worse is it was my birthday.

TL;DR version: feeling emo on my birthday and it sucks.

That sux out loud, Rach! ** hugs ** I know what you mean about feeling alone in a crowd. It can be worse that being alone alone. And to be allergic to teh kitty is very very sad. At least, my dog is hypoallergenic. Hope you can find some fun with a belated birthday diversion. You can ping me on FB any time, btw.

I would normally just HAppy Birthday, and lend a smile, but that's not relly what you need right now. I'd offer a hug, but that wouldn't help much through a screen. It's times like this thatI wish I had more than words to offer. All I cna do is extend another offer to be someoneto listen if you need to talk.

And don't worry about what the scale says. I'm pretty sure it's impossible for you to gain 10 pounds that quickly unless you're actually trying for that. Most likely is that you had carb-heavy meals that maxed out your glycogen stores. Glycogen is like a sponge, so what I'm saying is that it's mostly water weight you're carrying.

I just got the best. Compliment. Ever. A teenage girl complimented me on my look. No one in the world is more concerned about appearance than teenage girls and one just complimented me on multiple garments in my ensemble. The best part - I was in yoga gear driving back from the gym.

First, she complimented my sunglasses. "Are those Ray-Bans?" "No," I told her. "I have a pair of Ray-Bans I paid $250 for but I get more compliments on these." They're $17 Ray-Ban-esque Betsy Johnsons.

As I'm walking away, "And, ohmigawd, your tights are awesome!" They're basically the same leggings my mom wore in the early nineties when she watched aerobics tapes in the living room of my parents' first house. "Thanks!"

It's like I finally have the cool kids' approval.

I lost my job a month ago after my dad died a month before that, so I know how you feel somewhat in terms of being lost right now. But I hate even more that it's not your birthday. Just know that it WILL get better and life will move on. No matter how bad things are right now, you can always move forward to look to the future, and life will get better.

I have to believe that I can get up and move forward, and that sometime, life will get better. I hope yours does. I hope mine does. But for now, I have to believe that it WILL so I can continue on.
