Transformation in Literature

Been wanting to get back to reading again. Anyone have any recommendations for novels with nice transformation scenes? Had a hard time finding any werewolf stories in horror lately (my local bookstore's filled to the brim with zombie novels...) and Kelly Armstrong seems to have cornered the market on the supernatural genre...

...so I guess I wanna know if anyone's read anything good lately

Try "Wild Blood" and "Walking Wolf: A Weird Western" from Nancy A. Collins

Blood and Chocolate is a pretty good read (but don't touch the movie version).

I still highly recommend The Last Werewolf and Talullah Rising by Glen Duncan

All of these seem to be werewolf TFs. Does anyone know of any books with other animal transformations?

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I see a few familiar names among them too.
I've also been looking for any novels where the Mind is the plaything of the Body trope crops up prominently when it comes to transformations. The tropes page is kind of sparse for the literature section.

Animorphs was what got me interested TFs in the first place. I think I read through most of them and still remember most of the scenes.

The termite one was terrifying...

How were the TF's in the Animorphs books? I remember them being relatively quick and non-process centric in the TV Series. The best in my opinion was the "forced" croc-tf one due to an "allergy".

There was definitely more process in the books.

I recently acquired and revisited most of the Animorphs books and I will second that they contain a surprising amount of process detail. I remember them being one of the early TF triggers for me, but I didn't remember the true extent of how far the books went in describing their morphing abilities. I mean it doesn't get graphic like a lot of content in the community being that it's a YA series, but I don't think you'd be disappointed.

My favorite happens to be the book that was used as the basis for the "croc allergy" episode. The title of the book escapes me at the moment.

[SPOILERS]

There's a great scene in the book where the girl starts morphing uncontrollably like she did in the episode, except she's at home and she turns into a whole series of animals, including an elephant, which proceeds to collapse through the floor of her second story house after she busts out of her clothes.

I'm also quite partial to the horse TFs that are described pretty frequently throughout the series.

Well, true. But snake TFs are rare, especially ones with any detail. I think the disappointment of reading that book is what lead to me write my own snake TF later. Oh well, I just thought I'd put that out there as it's one of the few non-werewolf books I have.
