I revisited this classic a few days ago, and it's aged just like a fine wine. It's a long read, but well worth your time. I haven't seen any other story go into such explicit detail of what the psychological fallout of an abrupt gender shift would be like.

There was one about a track runner that had really good characterization and focus on the psychological aspect, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.
