D&D 4th soon!
*Enters Geek Mode*
Just a couple months left before D&D 4th edition hits the stores. If you havent been following it, this verison includes PC suite functions for bulding and maintaining game stuff on your computer, and even lets you play online with included software. Discuss? |

That's an interesting feature. I've been longing to play RPGs again but cant find a group in my area, online would be easier.

There will be subscription fees no doubt. Hopefully they're cheap

Re: D&D 4th soon!
The latest confirmed pricing for it from GAMA for the full online features comes down to $14.95 monthly, $12.95 a month if you buy 3 months at a time, or $9.95 a month if you subscribe for a full year.
Not excusing how well it handles traffic. If it keeps crashing or long load periods will definately annoy folks. But we'll see.

Re: D&D 4th soon!
im not looking forward to 4th ed. i started playing with 3.5 ed and ive learned after each ed they just rewrite everything and dumb it down for new people to play. im not alone in thinking this, every dnd player i have talked to from the past has agreed with me. im not happy about the online part either. theres already an mmo for dnd. i will refuse to play by 4th ed rules and books. i draw the line at 3.5 and below. with all the changes and what not, its just becoming a table top version of games such as wow, and lotro.

I grew up playing AD&D and lemme tell you, more rules aint better. If anything it leads to all kinds of arguments. A simpler ruleset gives the DM more flexibility and puts the rule-fiends silent.

Re: D&D 4th soon!
I like how third addition treated the monsters and NPCs... it makes them easier to RP if they become PC due to an add in, and gives a wider range of races to play. (my favorite races are Lizardfolk (and various subraces there of), halfling, and kobolds). What little I have read about 4th ed. it seems that this is done away with.

*shrugs* Tried and played third, didn't like it and went back to 2nd Ed and we've been having a blast.
