Re: are you a heavy reader?
I am not a heavy reader. I am about ideal weight. I do read a fair amount, though not always as much as I would like due to time constraints. Currently reading Nieblungenleid. I always have a book I am re

Re: are you a heavy reader?
I read a fair amount. I tend to go on the computer more when I'm alone, but when there are others in the house, I can't go on the sites I'd like to, so I usually read instead.

Re: are you a heavy reader?
not bad-I could actualy read a big lot,but ive got a very short atention span. Its hard for me to keep focus and read my books on the comp-ive got ˝The Brood of the witch queen˝ by Rohmer started there, while im two thirrds through the printed out ˝The Beckoning Fair One˝ by Oliver Onions-also my record is I think 112 pages. But the quickest I had a book finished was in under 24,realy under 20 hours of geting it-a wonderfull book that turned me to the author, even if it was for free-anyway got it midday and started reading and finished by early morning-with sleep.I almost didnt pick that up,cause from the cover I thought it was a poetry book.

Re: are you a heavy reader?
I read the Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis. And I hated it. You see, I was tricked into believing this would be an action-packed sci-fi adventure, and then the actual book was nothing but a preachy sermon by Lewis on how humanity sucks and we all need to clean our souls.
I read "Tarzen of the Apes" by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I liked it until Jane and company land in Tarzan's home. Once the "targmangani" (white man) shows up in the story, the whole book gets more boring. My school made me read "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne. There's areason why most of the filmed adaptations are not true to the book: the book itself is pretty boring. I read "Jurassic Park" by Michael Chrichton. Once again, the reason the Spielberg movie was not true to the book is because the book itself is "Introduction to Bioogy and Physics, Starring Dinosaurs". Here's an example: in the movie: Lex: Hey! I found a dinosaur egg! Alan Grant: That's because these dinosaurscan change gender. in the book: Lex: Hey! I found a carbonadium-enchaned egg with a ph2 of 47ktt and a radioactive nucleus around its carbon core! Alan Grant: The DNA in the main statis cells of the dinosaurs have produced a phermonal dirronucleic change that charges the pitutuary and ovaric gland with endocrine pheromones, producing a bio-cehimcal mitosis that causes them to change sex. And whole goddamn book is like that. Screw that, give me the movie any day of the week. I read "Roadwork", by Stephen King. I liked it pretty much. I read the Lord of the Rings books by J.R.R. Tolkien, but I have very vague memories from it. I have "Alice in Wonderland" for obvious reasons. I read "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupery. Nice, but too sugary sweet for my taste. I read "Oedipus Rex", and I sincerely didn't understand what the hell was going on. |

Re: are you a heavy reader?
I have to disagree on The Journey there-its quite descriptive, but for several dozens of pages where you only wander in dark underworld caverns-there is stil alot of atention-attraction in there.

Re: are you a heavy reader?
True, but without monsters and villains, many Hollywood directors feel that there isn't enough action.

Re: are you a heavy reader?
At 6'3", 325 pounds I would say I'm a very heavy reader.
My book collection weighs more than I do. Stems from the fact that your typical novel isn't all that much of a distraction. Sat down once and read all day, finished off five novels. While not massive titans of liturate, the Harry Dresden books are nothing to sneeze at. |
