I just watched "THE X Files: I Want to Believe"...

...and I left with a lot of unanswered questions.

Whatever happened to the alien invasion from the last episode of the series?

What happened to the Organization? Where are the Smoking Man and Strughold?

Scully's specialty is forensic science, NOT medicine. If she retired from the FBI, shouldn't she work as a forensic officer in the Washington DC Police Department?

Given that Fox owns both shows, why didn't House appear during the hospital scenes?

Why is Scully still a skeptic after all the crazy shit she's been throught during the series?

And why DID they call them back from retirement, anyway? If you think about it, the only paranormal thing about the case is the priest with the visions. Can't the "normal" FBI agents handle this?

Why can't we hear the original, complete version of the theme from the series during the credits?

Why does nobody adress the fact that Scully has long hair (which she NEVER had in the series)?

Why can we see Mulder and Scully kiss, but not having sex? (it's not like little kids watched the original series, anyway...)

The invasion was resolved in the 6th and 7th season, I believe.

CSM is dead/alive somewhere. Who the hell is Strughold?

She study has a Bachelor's in Physics, and a degree in Medicine. Technically, she's a doctor. And also, she WAS NOT a forensic doctor. She just knew her way around the human anatomy to point out that their was something wrong.

W. T. F?

She was skeptic because their "key witness" was a psychic, altar-boy molesting, Catholic priest.

/smacks you in the head
It's the mother f***ing X-Files. Psychic visions fall under the paranormal.

The movie was too terrible for the full version?

Chris Carter was hoping that the success of this film would help him decide to make more dealing with mytharc stories. Obviously you need everyone to go watch it for that to happen. It would have been nice to see Mulder and Scully get it on, but you can always go back to Californication and image Scully as that other red-head Moody screwed. Or you can use this to ease the pain:

The movie was designed to be like a standalone episode of the series.

They already stated that, if the movie was successful, a third movie would follow the ongoing plot.

Re: I just watched "THE X Files: I Want to Believe"...

1. If you saw the press releases for the movie, they said this was going to be one of the stand alone/monster of the week stories.

2. If you saw the series finale, the Smoking Man took a helicopter's missile to the face. He's dead. And as far as Strughold is concerned, he's still farming alien corn out in the desert, since he wasn't in the hanger where the Syndicate was destroyed.

3. Scully had been studying to be a doctor before the FBI found and hired her.

4. The X-Files already has enough meta-references in it.

5. It would be a short and boring movie if Scully believed right off the bat. Also, maybe the actions of the priest dulled her mind a little.

6. The FBI was getting desperate, and there would not have been a movie if they hadn't called them.

7. They're saving the theme for the final movie.

8. Longer hair shows the passage of time.

9. You went to the movie to see them again, not to see them do it. It would take away from the story.

That and Gillian Anderson herself has favored long hair since she left the show.

This may be the unanswered X Files question of the century. I've got all the episodes on DVD (watched them more than I'd like to admit) and I still get frustrated with Scully.

Aside from all the 'smacked upside the head' proof how can she doubt Moulder's adorable face???

I wouldn't mind seeing him naked either. Mmmm...

Re: I just watched "THE X Files: I Want to Believe"...

Ah, the ramblings of the lone nerd, always pointing out the inconsistencies with movies and actual television series, despite the fact that it is most akin to that of a movie being made from a book.

Though, I am not at all innocent of these charges when it comes to series that actually matter taking the leap to the big screen, when I leave the theatre for these sort of productions I oft leave dissatisfied, but then I remember that the people in charge are but mortal, and I feel opted to forgive them.
Despite what they have done to Indianna Jones recently, and for that damnable new star wars movie, but after the first prequel I had forsaken that series.
