Re: TF Flash Game the Second

Well, first odd issue: In the last two stages of the Dog one, Osaka turns partially invisible: only her ears, hands, eyes, mouth, paws, the ball and the leash are visible...

Second, hilarious issue: In the Cow one, when the fur is selected (possibly only if it's the first change?), it covers her eyes, nose and mouth. In subsequence changes, the eyes reappear, but they vanish during animation of the changes.

Third, odd issue: In the Cat one, a number always appears before the text associated with a change.

Fourth odd issue: Again in the Cat one, when the spirals are matched, the text response is "undefined" - but I remember in the previous version there as a text response programmed!
Similarly, when the last match is made, the response is "fined". Wha?

And as for the other stages: clothing sure sounds interesting, but what about my suggestion of a squirrel?

Re: TF Flash Game the Second

Oh right that one yeah that one too ok.

As for all the issues:

I know what I did wrong on the Dog stage and that's going to require a lot of work. Damn.

The Cow stage: I put the face on top of everything on accident. Shouldn't take long to fix. -- edit: No, it's another "I made changes to the SWF and didn't check them before packaging it" error. I really need to pay more attention.

Cat: I'm a huge idiot on this one. I put the wrong SWF in there. Sheesh. It's undefined and fined because it's trying to find a text line that isn't there because I renamed some of the text entries (and it's trying to crop the first four characters which are supposed to be numbers in the instance of 'fined'). That's what I get for doing a mass-rename right before packaging it all.

Sigh. Ok, give me about fifteen minutes. I'm going to delete the zip in the previous post when I make all the changes.

Status:

Cow fixed.
Cat fixed.
Working on doggy.
Doggy problem 1 fixed (the one I found). Problem 2 requires doing a quick re-animation. 5 minutes. 10 max.

Or not. Yeah, remember that stacking problem? You do if you've read my rants in this thread. Turns out I completely ignored the problem in the Dog stage. So, that's what happened. Thanks Flash for this completely arbitrary rule!

Will be another 5 minutes. Thought I just had to re-do some animations as the popping out problem was happening with image swaps earlier, but I only swapped one image for this one and I had already cleaned it up.

Done! Packaging and uploading.

Or not. I tested Cow before I packaged it and it was still broken. Think I got the error. Testing again...

Wow all this time I forgot to add Tail to the size-up animation. Added. I think I'm ready.

Nope -.-

OK! One last thing. Cow works. Wanted to make a quick change to the other 3 (the eye up/down was staying on through to the Win/Lose screen).

Re: TF Flash Game the Second

Um... now the dog responses are only "fined", and the fur covers her eyes nose and mouth...
The cow and rabbit responses are also "fined", and some of the changes make her eyes, nose and mouth vanish her eyes vanish.
Thankfully, the animation in the cat change is fixed, but all the responses are either "undefined" or "fined".

I uh... I didn't post any changes yet >_>

I don't know how your game magically changed, because I didn't do anything...

Here's the fixed version!

Try not to break it. I need sleep. Like, now.

I figured out what was wrong. It was Internet Explorer playing some evil tricks. Well, suck on this, IE: I've got a stand-alone flash program now, so you can go and eat your anus!

But anyway, now that I'm running the flashes on Swiff Player, they're running perfectly well.

Re: TF Flash Game the Second

Good to hear!

Honestly, the first release was my bad. I didn't test before I released it. Silly me.

The bugs that occur in the new release should be few and far between, but I guarantee there will still be bugs.

I only wish I had time to write dialogue and do facial expressions as a good sample for how it works, but I just didn't... I know there are plenty of people out there who don't really want to have to do custom work for each one, and this hands-on approach hinders their enjoyment from the game.

Nice flash game. At first I didn't notice the changes by the little person in the corner, but then I did.

A Cow TF would be pretty awesome, too.

Yeah... Have you tried reading more then the first page?

Like that link three poats up, by the author of the thread?
Seriously, its hard to not laugh when he just posted the cow, and all the other ones he did right above you

I also made a link to that post, stating that the files in the OP are now outdated and that the current game was in that post >_>

Oh well. I can always try bigger font sizes and brighter colors!

Yeah, the first post was too long. I skimmed it, and just downloaded one of the attachments.

The bold-red font helps, though :P

Re: TF Flash Game the Second

So, I've been experiencing burnout.

I tried to do the clothesless versions of what I've already done because it would solve several problems with the cards but I just can't make it work. The clothes in the sprite hide the fact that she's not even remotely proportional. I may not have artistic ability, but I can tell when something doesn't look right.

To be honest, I'm already tired of this game >_> I wanna start making a new one... though I don't know what to make just yet.

I thought this game would provide longevity as a tradeoff for easier coding, and while I accomplished the former somewhat, the latter was not.

Edit : So my original idea here is that you play as 5 people, one at a time, in trying to get through a dungeon maze. Several ideas bouncing around, between randomly-generated dungeons with moving traps and riddles and things like that to having a game with 3-5 stats that decrease with time/steps/traps/generic failure. Thinking about relating the 5 characters' dungeons together somehow and make an actual goal for having all 5 finish in addition to making several unique 'bad ends' per character. Not sure if I should do incremental changes or not. Dialogue changes wouldn't be hard, but I'm just thinking there's no real point in incremental sprite changes this time around.

I don't think I can use Flash for this (I'll certainly try!), but I have no idea what other program I can use for this.

ps - won't be using osaka sprite (OMG).
