Downside to the Fetish: Genetic Tampering
I figured this would get people's attention.
I suffer from a disorder called Language Delay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_delay Even to this day, it can be difficult for me to properly string conjectives into a proper sentence. But I decided to look it up on Wikipedia, and a secondary link lead to Williams-Beuren Syndrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams-Beuren_syndrome At the bottom of the page is a set of links to articles about Genetic Abnormalities. I noticed the Triple X syndrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_X_syndrome Then I went back and looked at the Quadruple X syndrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/48,_XXXX And did so for the Quintuple X syndrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/49,_XXXXX Well, being the wonderful person that I am, I started thinking how these abnormalities could be used to fix "problems" people had in their features. Ya know, transformation. And I found myself getting disgusted with any thought of this type of transformation. Who would actually want to go through this type of change, or hell, want to experience it happening by causing somebody to go through this change? As of right now, I truly believe I can't sink any lower. This research just made me realize there are always gonna be worse people than me who get off on anything (and can usually be found on 4chan, on /b/). I am going to purposefully avoid any Process that deals with matter like this. Mind you, I'm not turned off to the whole "Process" thing, just matterial that is centered around this sort of thing. You guys can discuss this topic, but I've said my share. I'll take processes that beautify over scientific transformations meant to humiliate or horrify any day. |

Are these neural disorders? What exactly are you talking about? I just see links to extremely rare disorders or problems.

Re: Downside to the Fetish: Genetic Tampering
I'm saying I've finally reached the point in my life where I know that there are people out there who are willing to do this to people because it gives them a sexual thrill, and I thank God that it's not possible for them to cause this to happen to other people. These genetic anomalies (Triple, Quadruple, and Quintuple X syndromes) are sad to witness, and hard for people to live with.
As for the neurological disorders? I suffer from one (which I have to explain all the time), and Williams was a connected topic because Language Delay is a common symptom. Instead of having a long post dedicated to what it's like for me to think and process my words (which by the end of the day utterly exhausts me), I posted the link, which did the job for me. |

I'm guessing the former after reading the Williams Syndrome article..though, I can't really think why someone would want that. Then again, and please, no offence to anyone afflicted is intended by this, despite the article mentioning 'elfin' facial characteristics, it's not meant I think in the way of say, an 'attractive elf', and after viewing a few videos and images of such people, many of them seem have very light facial characteristics that you'd maybe associate with Downs Syndrome. While I'm sure that there are of course people who would find that attractive, I don't really think that group of people overlaps with the type of people unless I'm mistaken you seem to be implying, i.e. someone that wishes to look different. |

Re: Downside to the Fetish: Genetic Tampering
I would love to replace the pesky Y chromosome that I carry with an X Chromosome (preferably one identical to the one my father carries).
I really hope that there are not people out there that will be attracted to people because of conditions that cause mental retardation and a slew of other incpacities and inconveniences. That being said the world is a fucked up place.

Do we presume then, that anyone who , at least within the general consensus's idea of 'normal', engages in such activity is only doing so out of pity? I mean...even when the disability or affliction isn't from birth, should we feel the same there? Where the soldier, having being horrifically burned during a fight, comes home to marry his waiting sweetheart. Does she marry him -because- she pities his disfigurement, or that, as the notion goes 'love conquers all', that even despite his visage she still loves him. Then again, they have history, she knows him in private. The Downs Syndrome man, well, he was born like that, so, who in their right mind could find him attractive? At least...anyone who didn't also have it. Then...that's not really what you said, you hoped there aren't people who wouldn't be attracted to another -because- of the other person possessing certain physical characteristics, or an attraction that paints a disability in a positive light. |

The argument is more based off of the fact that some of these people have the mental comprehension of children and taking advantage of that lack of comprehension is akin to statutory rape.
