I'm surprised Dark Chylde isn't in development hell.

I note that IMDB shows it as "in development" (as opposed to "in pre-production"), so it could still be in development purgatory.

At least that preliminary poster is very nice.

Re: A movie to look forward too

that'd be awesome of John Carpenter could pull of a new one and have it be good.

ghosts of mars was 100 years ago and nobody even saw it.

hm. actually he hasn't made anything good since they live. even though I like his vampires I realize most people do not. that shit was pretty good though. starts off great with the dirt graves and the motel party.

ahahahahahaha

We've had threads on this movie from the first time that teaser effects shot was done. I think the last update on the movie was that everyone attached to it was no longer attached to it, and that was from 3 years ago.

It is super dead.

You are wrong. In the Mouth of Madness was an excellent Lovecraft film, and it came out after They Live. This not an opinion, it is cold, hard fact.

John Carpenter is awesome. I don't think I've seen a movie he's made that wasn't great. I watch In the Mouth of Madness at least once a year.

Re: A movie to look forward too

Good Lovecraft Esque moves are still a rarity, and seems like this one won't be coming out anytime soon because the source material is a Horror/Action Comic that would need lots and lots of special effects. I doubt Hollywood is willing to risk it on a new horror franchise that hasn't seen critical acclaim, unlike say Word War Z . Properties like The Darkness, Witchblade, Lady Death and things of similar style are better for animation as it turns out. The Live Action Witchblade and Spawn projects where kind of crummy while the Witchblade Anime and Spawn HBO Animated series where both quite good.
