New She Hulk series on the way!

It looks like Marvel will be bringing some clothes ripping fun(or so I hope) back:

I like the uncontrollable and the grey skin, hopefully she stays sexy and not like the old Grey She Hulk we saw a long time ago.

I'm more pleased at the mentions of juggling a normal life, hopefully part of her exploration of herself involves some non-green time.

The comics I've read have never really gone full on muscle growth. Or have I just been reading the wrong issues?

The Savage She-Hulk, her first original line of comics, is where most of the muscle growth is. Sensational She-Hulk is more for the chic stuff to appease the anti-fetishists.

Well, there was that one time back in the early days of Sensational She-Hulk when she turned into a grey behemoth.

Also during Slott's run there was the time when she discovered the "exponential" side to her powers.

Yes, it'd be nice to have issues named, please.

#8 of the 2004-2005 series. The seed of the idea is planted back in #4 but #8 is where she puts it into practice. #9 has the aftermath of her strength increase and has half-way decent art, unlike the earlier issues.

Re: New She Hulk series on the way!

Hello there,

Hmm... a very, very interesting advent that none the less evokes a certain ambivalence for me...

Without being overly pedantic in my reservations about the direction of SH for the past decade - something well known to a few in the community - I can't deny a certain promise, mingled with tempered reservation. Though I do appreciate that SH stories have come to follow a different path than other Hulk franchises, the previous series led to me to quietly conclude that - on a particular narrative level - that though Jen/SH has been many things, she has become something of a self parody: a cool, but I think not unjustified indictment considering how and where her story has gone in recent times.

Still, given the ostensibly radical overtures we are seeing with this emerging series, I hope that it does something which the last decade has failed to do. In the first, perhaps a more rugged and compelling psychodrama between Jen and her other self: exploration of the seemingly burgeoning duality between both identities and what has brought them to this point. In the second, I hope for a more pronounced physicality in how this is negotiated - Jen no longer quite as comfortable with the numerous conceits of her standing and career, with her angrier, gray self lurking just beneath. And SH, no longer quite the happy go lucky hero but more cloudy, complex and stormy than before.

Forgiving the pun, here's hoping for gray with the possibility of rain .

Thanks,

Alchemical Night.

The first depiction of it is somewhat lackluster due to the art style basically balloon arm with shape but no definition or shading. When the conflict is over the new artist draws her with some decent muscle, etc. Then the writers go and fubar the whole thing by saying "Oh her strength is so much now she can't interact with the fragile world around her." Then proceed to ferret her away in a big ugly space suit until she's more back to square one I think. While I appreciate the slight exploration of someone who's been a super for awhile suddenly having rookie level problems with controlling their power and it made some sense she'd been only training in none gamma form that entire time, putting her in the suit and then hitting a slight reset button was annoying.

I have the series packed away, but I haven't looked at it in awhile. Think it went off the rails big times, by having it be the big 'justify your existence' for some stupid reason. Also the depictions of some characters went kind of weird with an artist change like Southpaw having an overly large gauntlet when she is introduced and then with the artist change it shot up to almost as big as the character.
