Hmm... for a while, I was thinking that muscle was the equivalent to say... herms or furries... that is to say, a pretty much love/hate thing with a relatively little middle ground.

Considering it now, I think it's actually more like breasts/height/weight... it's just that on average, people seem to have a much smaller comfort zone... so, for people not into muscle, things tend to fall off as soon as you get past athletic.

Although, I think that it would be wrong to look at muscles purely in terms of aesthetics. There's the very deep rooted association that muscles/strength are masculine traits and of course, the fact that strength is power and that if a woman is particularly muscular, then she'll be stronger than the guy and of course, that leads to the notion of the man being emasculated and submissive etc.

Goodness, isn't pop psychology fun?
