A discussion about tails in TF sequences

Hey, guys, I want to do a Tailmon(Gatomon) transformation sequence for my comic (one day) and I really like the tail growths, especially slow ones. Unforturnately a Tailmon's tail is about twice the length of it's body. Since I'm going to TF a girl into one, a slow tail growth of one is going to be pretty hard. The first time I tried to do it which was about a year ago, I ended up with about a full 9panel page of that, along with comments of how I made changes in the TF, which makes it pretty bad.

I need to redo this but, I was wondering how fast or part of the tail growth that I should show in each panel and should I get rid of the arms as I do this. I tried that with the Blaze the cat one but it turned out to be my worst page rather than "ok." Since it had 5 panels of that tail growth, I think that should be fine, but I want to do even more in the Tailmon one and try to go for 6 panels. Though, I wonder what limit of panels should a slow tail growth go. Can you give me your opinions about this?
