The way it is set up is that because so many people have contributed, for each additional member there is an increasing return for initial effort (which, 500 words, you could write in 30 mins to an hour if you focus). Then, there are additional returns as new people join. I feel the reward is actually quite large compared to a relatively small amount of work... though, to each their own.

You're not seeing the argument because there isn't one; I can't be fussed with going to the effort to create something, thus I expect nothing in return. It's a cynical, perhaps even selfish way of looking at things, but that's me I guess.

While your point about putting down something in half an hour might have been true of me 4 or 5 years ago, I no longer enjoy writing and thus it's pretty hard to drum up any enthusiasm any more. My job killed my joy in writing and my muse a long time ago.
