Christ, some of you guys are jumping on Flip like he was requesting art. Give him a fucking rest. It needs work, and I've certainly seen MUCH MUCH WORSE.

Hell, I can't draw for shit and some people just trace over good art and tweak it a bit. At least he's bringing SOMETHING to the table, not like some people. (Including me....)

It still doesn't change the fact that he broke one of the fundemental rules here.

Golden rule - you have to post pictures that show the process within the sections.

I mean, we're called the fucking process for goodness sakes.
Not the "Post poorly made lactation pictures of sonic-like characters circle-jerk website".

True. But we've also let a few pictures slide just because they implied they grew, like an overstuffed t-shirt..That may not be the case here...But it seems like this kinda singled out on one guy today.

Uh, no it isn't. Only a small fragment of the material here shows actual process.
People such as Wolfman and you singled him out. Totally ridiculous.

As a lurker I usually tend to stick away from saying anything too opinionated, but this thread sparked my interest after a dull day of work, instead of attacking new artists or whatever you want to call them, you could just point out their mistakes nicely and tell them what to work on, this would at least give a bit nicer view on the Process community.

Anyway time to equip anti-flame suit.

These are the kinds of things that may discourage possible submissions because people might be afraid to post for fear of being bitched at. And it sorta does show process cause the shirt is entirely too small for the breasts so it's implied process. I'm really glad Subaru said something about this though.

Suggestions

On one hand, I get exceptionally annoyed when people do nothing but shower praise on an art piece that, well, needs work.

But being a dick is being a dick. The fact that it's porn doesn't mean it's a good idea to throw ethics out the window. This has been remarked on several times already. It's nice to see repercussions for the behaviour.

That having been said, the best advice I can give is to use a reference. Lots of good advice has been given for the specifics, but here's a bit for becoming a better artist. Practice, practice, practice to develop the skills needed with your hands and sketch over photos to start getting an eye for anatomy. Mass in the shapes with the broad side of your conte/pencil/wacom/whatever. When I was in college, we were taught to squint at what we were looking at until it divided into three or four definable shades for us. It helps quite a bit. Good luck!

I have a bunch of friends who like to draw anime characters who have learned quite a lot from the "How To Draw Manga" book series. It didn't help me any because I'm a talentless rube with a pencil or pen, but it might help you.

It is best not to use those books if you'd ask me. Learn real anatomy first. Manga style is a stylization of real anatomy.

Well the book on perspective i heard was pretty useful. My teacher back in art school knew some of the people who helped create4 those books and i remember him saying that the only ones that were good to get were the getting started book and the perspective books... all the other books are really filled with thinks you eventually learn on your own
