Deep/meaningful children's/family films?

This week, I took my 6 year old cousin and his 10 year old friend to see "WALL-E".

And I was surprised by the amounth of depth that movie has. Iit has a very deep, powerful message. That message being: use machines, don't abuse them. Don't let technology take control of our lives.

So, can you think of another children's/family film that has a deep, meaningful message? One that, in addition to entertaining children, makes the adults think?

All art (film, pictures, sculpture, stories, etc.) has some meaning, whether intended or not. I think the best work has a powerful theme that touches you and makes you think while it entertains you. But doesn't preach to you or try to shove it down your throat, since then you wouldn't be entertained that much either. In other words, ideally, the moral to the story shouldn't interfere with the fun but support it and make it even MORE entertaining.

Now, lets see...


Entertaining and meaningful animations... that make adults think too? Well, depends on what adults you're talking about, huh?

I notice that many animated files seem to have themes of team work and pro-family.


Chicken Little, team work and family are imporatant. And, of course, listen to your kids.

Incredibles - team work and family are important. Don't piss off your fans.

The Robinsons - team work and family are important. And don't keep your roomate up all night.

Dinosaur - Persistence and cooperation are important.

Ice Age - Persistence and cooperation are important.

Finding Nemo - Don't let fear rule your life

Shrek - true beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Aladdin - insane pursuit of power can destroy you.

Yeah, there are lots of themes to these toons.



I'm not sure any of these are as deep as you would like. Maybe someone else will point out others and we haven't even talked about anime yet.
