Sizes, Weights, and Capacity

Something I dug up that may help you out.

Please note, I did not write this.

Fact A: If the volume of an object is doubled, its mass is cubed.

Fact B: A gallon (3,785.41 cm^2) of water weighs 8 pounds ( 2.99 kg) and produces a force of 37.85 psi, while the atmosphere at sea level generates approx 14.70 psi.

Fact C: The tensile strength of human skin is 1600gm/mm^2 or 2767.74 pounds/inch^2

Thusly: the maximum a person could contain in their breasts without bursting is 146 gallons (73 gallons x2), which would weigh 1168 lbs and each breast would be approx 24 feet in diameter! That?s 584lbs per breast! (This does not take into account the variances in pressure or the atmosphere or the varying density of the actual material, as this is intended as a kind of ?rule of thumb? for DMs. Maybe we should call it a ?Maximum Safe Size? after which the odds of exploding start really climbing.) To move normally, a person would have to have Str 36 to move normally! (This explains why it?s always the fighter who?s stacked!)

Note: All sizes given in this section are based on a medium creature. Please scale sizes and weights to the creature in question. A fairy could not have 12 foot in diameter breasts without a great deal of magic, nor would a frost giant be likely to burst from having ?mere? 24 foot in diameter breasts.
