Yes and as Alien posted the concept was made into a spiritual thing. It originally had no spiritual connotation whatsoever.

I find the people I debate on youtube to be more sensible and courteous than the guy I argued with. Sure they might insult you, but at least you get to finish your sentence.
I find your topic title ignorant and insensitive. Thank you for insulting all people that dare disagree with you. Also, I suggest seeking some help for your issues with this.
Being driven to the point of wanting to inflict pain on others just because they think you're wrong is dangerous, and you might hurt someone someday.

This was not an insult to creationists in general, nor to people who disagree with me. Those who have debated me before on this forum can vouch for my civility in debate. Also you are mistaken that I was driven to anger because the other individual thought that I was wrong. My anger and the title refer to his shouting over the top of me when I was attempting to be civil. I thought I had clarified in the original post and in the ones that followed that my anger stemmed from what amounts to PTS. Being in a situation that can drive a 2nd grader to attempt suicide tends to have that effect on people.

The only reason they believe in it is because they've never tested it or attempted to support it. That way they can keep getting offended when people (and the natural world) disagree with them, and being offended at things gives you power.

So you're telling me that no creationist, anywhere, has ever researched evidence debunking the big bang theory or other associated non-creationist views? Really? You're making the assumption that absolutely none of us have ever formulated opinions or read material contradicting secular views? You think there isn't a single accredited creationist scientist in existence? You honestly think we only do this to go on some kind of misguided power trip? This is all rhetorical, mind you. I don't even think I'd want to know if your answer in fear that it could actually be yes.

Whenever I get into one of these kinds of discussions it always seems to end with the other side saying 'There's more to life than just facts.' They decide creationism is a part of their religion and thus is justified by having faith in it like everything else religious. As for scientists who believe in creationism I figure they're largely chemists or sociologists or the like. Anything where they can safely produce respectable work without having to come up against unfortunate evidence.

That's the fun thing about science. They have no damn clue what happened to make everything the way it is. I mean honestly your quest to disprove creationism will just end in your frustration. Even undeniable proof of the big bang happening wouldn't change a thing in anyone's religion.

Irrelevant. One of the main principles of science is to constantly question established theories. Yes, many creationists have done this, as have many non-creationists. Just because one theory is proved wrong (in this case, the Big Bang theory), doesn't prove any other theories (such as creationism) to be wrong.

EDIT- Oops. I meant to say right.

The thing that annoys me most about the various religious theories out there is that science says 'We don't know. This is just an educated guess.' whereas religion says 'We know.'

Be as insulted as you like. This isn’t a matter of opinion. Creationism is the denial of a theory as scientifically legitimate as gravity and the heliocentric universe. It’s based on myth and there is absolutely no scientific evidence for it. If you were willing to grasp this, you’d see how ridiculous it is to cling to a fairytale in favour of science and wouldn’t have to feel so insulted by fact.

Wow. You didn't read a thing HOB said. Thanks for providing further evidence creationists are stupid.

HOB clearly said the reason they became angry to the point of wanting to inflict physical harm on the creationist being discussed is they were cutting them off and shouting over them. HOB also provided a detailed explanation of why this behaviour causes them such frustration:

Quote:
(I am overly sensitive about anything that I persieve (spelling?) as censorship do to the continuous trauma inflicted on me in elementary school (Related to a speech impediment I had and resulted in me trying to kill myself in second grade on multiple ocassions).
The notion HOB wants to hurt others because they think they’re wrong is something entirely made up by you and you owe HOB an apology for suggesting something so insulting about them without a basis.

Also, I suggest seeking some help for you issues with this.

Actively denying scientific evidence upon which all modern biology is based in favour of a myth for which there is absolutely no evidence is dangerous, and you might hurt someone some day. It’s called fundamentalism. It makes people stupid and, in doing so, slows human progress.

I know it’s in the creationist’s nature to commit libel in order to “win” debate due to their lack of legitimate argument. To the rest of the world though, you look like a jerk grasping at straws.

By the way, sodacat, wanna make out?

With that, I'm drawing my commentary on this thread to a close. I'm in no mood to argue with people who are thoroughly convinced that their view on the universe is so incredibly absolute that it can't even be conceived of as anything other than concrete fact.

A special part of me finds it amusing that the insults still fly. Thank you for proving your prejudice.

By the way, whether or not he interrupted her is irrelevant. The desire to inflict physical pain from nothing other than a discussion, heated as it was, is still a definite case of anger management issues. Psychological help would still be advised.

Thank you all very much for your time. You've done a spectacular job of proving my point.

Science is wrong because it says things I don't like. I reject your logic and replace it with whatever proves I'm right.
