Re: Ugly Americans

It didn't work for me either.

I actually gave a pass to this show based on the art alone. It's not horrible and better than I can do, but I don't think we should encourage animation below a certain level. I'm looking at you Cartoon Network... with your Ed Edd And Eddy and Total Drama Island.

The Youtube Link worked though. No volume, so I wager YouTube shook it's mighty "we don't want to be sued" stick at the clip. **rolls eyes** Curses, foiled again.

There's a difference between the art and the animation. To me, the animation on "Ugly Americans" looks pretty good -- about as good as any other made-for-prime-time-TV animation that's running right now. (Which is mainly an indication of the fact that computers have seriously been a boon to animators. Most of the animation I see on TV now is much better than the made-for-TV animation I was watching in my younger days way back when, which was all hand-drawn and/or Xeroxed.)

The art is a different story -- I can see not liking the style it's done in. Although they do give you a warning right there in the title of the show...

You know you're right, and I'll retract my statement on giving this show a pass. I watched it yesterday and it's not to bad, but it's still not where I'd like to see animation. I'd love to see a return to the 90's Batman style animation but ultimately I know we'll never have that because those types of drawings take to much time and money to produce. Oh well.
