So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

The only Wii game I have been looking forward to in quite a while, and it's out on Tuesday.

Really don't know where to start on discussion so I'll leave it at that for the moment.

Oh also this:

Have mine on reserve.

They ran out of the collectors editions though (that come with the Classic Controller Pro), but still...$5 off and 500 wii points is like getting $10 off just for a preorder.

Re: So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

Have my final project for college going on, so I'm going to use it as incentive for when I finish it. Haven't gotten to preorder it, but thankfully I live in a small town, so with any luck they will have some spare copies of the special edition (there is really no comparison, the classic controller really is your best bet to be effective).

Not too sure how psyched I am about them having Wii Speak for the NE/EU version though. It was bad enough trying to ignore people who typed "Post Los plz" in MH1, having them talk could be even worse. Plus the Wii speak cut down the number of people who can be in a town to four, so it'll be a bigger pain to meet up with friends.

Re: So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

Bought it today, managed to get a spare bundle they had (the Classic Controller Pro is awesome!), got a Wiispeak too......quality on Wiispeak is meh, but better than having to type.

So far not many people have it, but if you meet someone annoying you can turn off the wiispeak in the game options at any time so that you wont hear them.

Re: So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

Last time I played Monster Hunter was the first PSP game, and the lack of online really sucked.

Let me know if this is any better, because people keep comparing it to Demon's Souls, yet this seems a little more forced, because you work with other people (who may or may not be idiots) and there's a time limit. >_>

Re: So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

It's nowhere NEAR as bad as Demon's Souls.

This game is FAR more forgiving, and death isnt any where near as bad. Me, my bro, and a friend of mine all fought each other for shits and giggles, and honestly it seems like you do less damage to players than you do monsters.

Oh: Also compared to the other games you can actually wander outside town WITHOUT being on a mission, and just gather shit without a time limit.

Just watched some gameplay clips of Demon souls...yeah I can see where the comparisons come from, but really people should be comparing Demon Souls to Monster Hunter, since the series has been around for quite a while longer and whatnot.

Anyway online works fine (haven't played this one online yet, just speaking from experience with the first game online with PS2. The low level quests are forgiving enough damage-wise that you can deal with an incompetent teammate or two, and once you get to the upper level quests most everyone who can sign up for them will have enough experience to be useful.
Besides, playing online is where most of the fun comes from.

I need to find out. Does anyone know if using two different systems through the same wireless router can play online together? Because both me and my roommate are gonna want to be doing some online co-op.

Re: So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

Of course you can. Each Wii has it's own unique IP, it's no different than playing two online PC games off the same wireless router.

Edit: after some more online play, found out you actually do ZERO damage to other players, but you can knock eachother around XD

Re: So how bout that Monster Hunter Tri

I've played them, they are fairly good. They remain true to the series. If you have a wireless router you can tunnel it through your PC and play it online. (it tricks it into thinking its playing local wifi).

Saddly there is no true online for the PSP one.

Own every one that has come stateside. And yeah they do make for a good travel game since each mission can eat up a good chunk of time.
