Re: What do you guys think of my art ?
I think you've reached the point you can with your current style. I'd guess your coming online here for criticism as you feel you could do "more" rather than "better". What you are currently do is good, infact I enjoyed glancing over things.
However I cannot comment on what "more" can be done. I'm far from an artist and never presume to think otherwise. I can barely doodle a stick man without breaking it. So with this in mind please speak with other such artists. Allow them to express how they went from one point to another. I could of course be missing the mark on this one. But its how I see things |

Aye, I agree with Jumba on this one. Art is a subjective thing at best so saying it could better is all up to you as the artist. Most of us here can't even draw like that so we can't really say much about it.

From what i can tell from those 3 pictures, you should slow down. the lines looked rushed and im only guessing but maybe you are holding your pen too hard which tends to make some jagged line strokes sometimes.

Of course, the kicker is what she finished it off with: "If Oprah went and wrote some poetry like this, you wouldn't be criticizing her about it, would you?" Took every fiber of my being not to yell out "Yes I fucking would!" Yes, art is largely subjective, and a number of decisions are best left up to the artist. However, skill is also a factor, and I, personally, am completely opposed to artists remaining stagnant because they're not willing to take advice. Even worse in this case, since Opaigamer wants advice. |

Re: What do you guys think of my art ?
Thanks Pyro and Kojiro, I do find that I typically draw a bit too quickly. I picture something in my head and want to see it on the page fast so I don't give it the time it needs. You mention "holding the pen to hard" and it's kind of funny in a way, I do something most artists probably stray away from, that is, some people use blue pencils or just draw lightly with an HB. I chose to use lighter pencils which has had the side effect of forcing me to draw a little harder. Instead of leaving that harshness to the lighter pencils where it doesn't actually make much of a difference it carried over to regular pencil work and inking.
So it's actually refreshing to see someone point that out to me. My bigger worry is the stagnation of my style. I use 2 styles, the opailopai account at DA primarily focuses on 1 of those styles. I'll refer to it has my anime style, I don't think it's particularly unique or anything but that's what it is. I spent years looking at anime art as a whole but that method of learning was a bit backwards, I only tried to get better at anatomy after learning how to draw an anime face and so, if you look through my gallery 9 times out of 10 , it'll be essentially the same face. The same angle and spacing as the avatar I just turned on for this forum. Head slightly tilted , facing forward. The second style I utilize is perhaps my "real" style. It is one far more heavily influenced by 90's nicktoons. There is no structure to it, very cartoony looking and freeform. It does not suit doing artwork involving fetish based transformation though, at least not unless I'm doing something that is supposed to be funny. To all those who've commented but are unsure about saying anything bad because they can't draw themselves. Compare my art to some of your favorite deviants. Outside of coloring , what are ways you think I can improve? I'm not asking anyone to be an asshole, just want some thoughts on what would make you think my art is as good as your favorite stuff. Thanks for the comments so far.

Especially things like art or making music or whatever are things that not exactly everyone can do. It's very easy to say good/great about a skill that you yourself have absolutely no experience with. Aka being impressed even though it's already been done before. As such it's my humble opinion that you can make suggestions, but to give advice we know too little about art to say anything about that. Quote:
I regularly check rabid on furaffinity but that's it. I could suggest using a tablet like what was mentioned and getting certain programmes that help with the process of art, photoshop and adobe something. It still would take quite alot of practise with said tools to get anywhere near as good. Off-topic: To Pyro, what exactly did the teacher say to that girl? I'm kind of curious how one would teach poetry. Since isn't the basic idea with poetry that one writes down one's thoughts/feelings at a time. It may or may not have to ryhme, but I thought the main thing is conveying something. Unless you're going for a certain ryhme sheme/haiku form. Otherwise does it really matter how one writes it down?

Re: What do you guys think of my art ?
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys, 4chan seems a little busted for now(but whenever it comes back I'll check out /co a bit).
A couple of you mentioned tablets- I actually do have an age old graphire 2 which I think the bamboo line replaced. I'm not so fond of drawing with it, probably a combination of many things but mostly I find that I spend twice as long to draw something that ends up looking half as good. I have 3 or 4 images at DA which I made entirely with a tablet and obviously like with anything, if I take my time the result is a bit better but I'd still rather put ink to a page , resorting to the tablet only if I flubbed something up I need to correct. The general message I'm getting is that I can indeed improve a number of aspects with my art. Some may see it as an irritating challenge but I'll just try to keep at the daily sketches. The scrapbook section on my DA page has a recent doodle page. I think for now at the very least I'll just try and do one of those every couple days while I whittle away at my latest batch of requests.
