Trying to find a name of a book I read before. it is a sci fi book with Alian tech causing a body enhancment TF (well after the main char gets a hold of it that is)

Sorry, but was a long time since I read the book. I do remember there were 2 different aliens spices and a secret war that happened a few years before the book starts
