Awesome Anime Card Game
Weiss Schwarz is a card game in Japan, which is slowly leaking into the states, with some English translated decks. Imagine it as Super Smash brothers, with Anime... in a card game. There's deck series spanning over 40 anime and they're all compatible. For instance, I bought a Vocaloid deck, and I played against a Disgaea deck, a Madoka Magicka deck, a Sword Arts Online deck, an Accel World deck. There's a ton. You can mix and match if you want too.
Unlike most card games where a starter deck is only just enough to play, requiring tons of boosters to make a decent deck, Weiss Schwarz Trial Decks are compiled to give you a competitive deck in a single box. it's enough to get started and still have fun, with boosters being completely optional. Ok, so to get a bit more into it: Each player has their deck. There's two ways to attack, via power (character vs character), and with soul (player vs player). As players take damage, they fill up a "clock" area that once full, levels them up. The closer to death you get, the more powerful cards you're able to play, allowing the game to turn at any time, and keeping people from being completely wiped out with overpowered custom decks. It also keeps the game interesting right up to the end. In the 8 matches I played yesterday, 2 of them came down to one final point of damage on either side. The game is brilliantly ruled so that play stays balanced throughout the game, with a full game taking about 30-60 mins depending on how things play out. And the best part is that you don't have to get into a whole slew of cards you don't know. Choose an anime you like and start with a trial deck. Build it up with a booster or two,or just home your favored strategy with the base deck ^_^ Hell even Trial decks have a chance of coming with an additional rare card. Mine had a rare signature card worth something like $80, but I jsut think it's cute ^_^ It's got doodles and the signature of the woman who's voice was used as the base to create the Hatsune Miku Vocaloid. Every deck has a holofoil and some deck exclusive alternate artwork cards, while 1 in 6 decks have an extra holofoil, and one in 6 or so of those (so like one in 36-ish) has the chance of being a signature card ^_^ Amazing game ^_^ I can't say enouhg about it ^_^

Re: Awesome Anime Card Game
WS format is with character cards, event cards, adn climax cards, each within the series of hte anime they're from. Some deck can work together, but mostly a set is meant ot work with its own deck nad boosters. Like PErsona 4 with P4 boosters. However Extra boosters are kinda like DLC for a set, like the PErsona 4 Animation, and PErsona 4 Ultimate (Persona 4 Arena in the US) boosters for the anime and current gen game respectively, which add ot hte original P4 card set nad can all work together.
For examplre, often character cards wil have abilities tied ot other cards in their own set, like gaining an extra ability when a specific climax card in played (aside from the Climax card's own abilitiy), or an Event card that specifically names other cards fro mthat set in it's abiltiies. The idea behind it was to play with your favorite set and play against other sets. Some sets are alowed ot be mixed when making your own deck, like PErsona 3, and persona 4 being copatable in deck-making despite beign seperate sets. Or the various Nanoha sets all being compatable despite being based on different series nad movies.
