Is there a connection between a TF fetish and wanting new experiences?

It seems to me that most people who are into TF could sort of tell that they were into it in some way growing up as a kid. I rarely run across people who manifested the fetish at a later age. Of course, that's just speculation! I could be entirely wrong. Sexuality is an incredibly difficult thing to pin down.
