Re: X-Men: New Mutants (2018) Wolfsbane

The New Mutants have a girl who is the demon queen of limbo, a werewolf and another girl who can fry people's brains with illusions.
And a big chunk of their history involves fighting stuff like the Demon Bear, S'ym, Belasco, the Hellfire Club and other fantasy/horror elements; as opposed to the average cape villains that the X-Men or the Avengers used to fight.
The horror/psych facility angle, it fits the X-Men movie universe. Given how we've seen shadowy experimentation (Weapon X, those guys in Deadpool, what Shaw was doing in World War 2) and how mutants will end up being hunted down to extinction (as depicted in Logan).

As for Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, i can only think about threethings:
1. This is not The Howling or Ginger Snaps, and neither is Wolfsbane a giant, hulking werewolf whos transformation includes a ton of rippage and muscle growth. As far as i remember, the character either ranges from something looking like the Wolfman, to a wolf-headed humanoid or just a red wolf.
2. I really hope they go for the wolf-headed humanoid.
3. And this is a PG-13 flick. We'll probably end up stuck with a quick CGI poof transformation like Mystique's or a short, drastic change like Beast in First Class.

Either way, i'm more interested in Magik and how they'll develop her being Colossus' little sister and the demon queen/darkchylde thingy.

1000x yes. Love to see this developed with all the transformations in the original Magik/Kitty Pryde special.

Which Colossus though? The one from X2 and X3 or the one from Deadpool.

Biggest problem with a lot of these Marvel movies is the rights are owned by several seperate studios so there a lot of B,C,and D list superheros that these films can buy the rights for and especially villians, they don't want to use any mainstream villians so the default is shady human scientists

Bad news everyone, apparently because of the Disney buyout New Mutants is being delayed nearly a year. :/

It should probably actually be straight up canceled. Disney/Marvel acquiring the X-Men rights should allow for an X-Men reboot that integrates them into the MCU.... this movie does not mesh with that idea. It would have to be heavily edited so it's not a stupid ass psychological horror/thriller, basically a totally different movie... and delayed until after the X-Men franchise is completely rebooted. Or rip it to bits and use parts of it as B-roll in later movies when the idea of mutants has to be introduced to the MCU.

I mean, it was going to suck anyway, and now it's totally worthless to the franchise. So what do you really do with that? You butcher it, shoot new scenes, edit that shit back together like it was Frankenstein's monster and hope it doesn't fall apart after you juice it up. Keep in mind that no one will ever see the original cut, ever.

Sure, but that doesn't change my prediction in the slightest. Since it's being released as a Disney movie instead of a Fox production it would have been edited extensively beforehand. The original cut will never be shown, the release is 4 months away and they don't have new trailers out for it, it's going to get buried and forgotten with other late summer releases.
