Did you perhaps consider writing an anthology of similar stories and setting them within the same universe with perhaps a few connecting elements? That'd let you write different works while still releasing a complete paid work somewhere else if that was your desire. Something along the lines of this. But with stories more tightly contained to a universe you'd be creating.
