You're overthinking/analyzing things. She didn't change by looking at the full moon; she looks up and notices the moon as the changes start affecting her. The first night of the full moon she partially changes and attacks her friend/love interest, and by the next morning, we are shown that her facial structure has already started to change to a more animalistic form. The same things happens on the train: She's trying to keep her head down, and ignore what's happening, but she notices the full moon just as the changes start again. They're not "activated" by looking at the moon, it's the filmmakers holding our hands to let us know the change is about to start. You know, like hundreds of other pieces of werewolf media do? I will readily concede that the filmmakers screwed up by releasing the video showing the transformation elements. That definitely spoiled the intrigue when the movie finally came out. Also, yes the scene was definitely rushed. This, again, highlights the mistake they made in having it take place on a bus. You've already resigned yourself to film in such a constrained fashion. The lighting, though, is just fine. They did a good job of establishing the scene of being on a bus at night, while still making sure you can see every element of the transformation. Go back and re-watch scenes like Ginger Snaps or The Dark and compare how they use the lighting in those to this. We didn't get the "conveniently moving light source that obscures things we don't want you to see" that so many filmmakers fall back on with this. The last part is just your own personal tastes being used to critique the scene, and it's an unfair take to use. I will die on the hill that nudity doesn't make or break a tf scene. It's awesome, and hot to see, but the whole point of transformation is watching the body contort, stretch, and change into something different. Tits and ass are a bonus, not a requirement. Otherwise, we'd all just watch normal porn and move on with our lives. It's awesome seeing someone as beautiful as Rose fully nude and transforming, but I feel the weakest parts of her videos are when she just stops cold and starts masturbating. Yes, I get it: Hot girl diddling herself. I'm attracted to it myself, but it does take away from the transformation itself. The part of her last video where she says, "Are you fucking kidding me?" to the idea of masturbating was such a hilarious throw in. The skin ripping stuff is just something I've come to terms with that people are always going to be overly squeamish to. It's whatever to me; I can understand the change being presented as being so intense that you're ready to claw through your skin to find relief (which, of course you find none). It's an aesthetic choice, at the end of the day, but it isn't the right or wrong way to do things, despite what people here insist on. At the end of the day, there's a vocal contingent that does little more than form an echo chamber of negativity, and it's exhausting. Yes, we are starved for consistent and consistently good content. Yes, some of the stuff that does get put out is a disappointment. However, it's exasperating when people tear down the stuff that does have some level of quality, even if it's flawed. I don't even want to know what this community would do if we didn't have Rose making her stuff, and thank God that she is as gracious as she is, because some of the same negativity and nit-picking pops up on her videos in the comments sections. I think people in the community as a whole need to take a massive step back and gain some perspective. |

Edit: Just rewatched that part to double check, yeah, I was right the first time. The partial and final TFs were both triggered by her actually looking at the full moon. There were more issues on re-watch as well, her eye color changes first on the bus, then moments later they made a big deal out of her opening her eyes to have them still be that same color they already changed to. They also had her grow fangs, again, after already having fangs earlier that morning which she grew the night before. It also seemed like her denim jeans became blue sweat pants after she boarded the bus, because in the close up low angel shot of the stomach transformation her pants lack denim texture. If I'm overthinking it, it just means I put more thought into trying to understand it than they put into it when making it. But you know what, I'm going to try and turn this into a positive. We really don't get enough female werewolf content anymore, and too many of us have to settle for scraps. I can write a better, more coherent and cohesive story than this movie told, so I'm just going to have to come out of retirement and start writing my own again to make up for when this sort of thing happens. I thought it was pretty good honestly. There is pacing and context that you don't get from the trailer alone. I like how she has some minor wolf features for a while before the big TF, and I particularly like the fact that we get to see her notice and react to the changes in the mirror when she wakes up. Little details like that have been wrong in every film since Ginger Snaps and they were right in this one, finally.

Re: Viking Wolf on Netflix friday
For me the TF was okay and I know a lot of work went into this stuff since there are plenty of behind the scenes looks at all the practical make up and change-o heads they had. My one gripe overall for any of these movies, is when during all the interviews and whatnot, they always talk like they're about to "redefine" what you know about Horror or Werewolves. It's like they think they're going to suddenly come up with something so new it'll blow our minds, and then they just redo something we've seen before.
I wish they'd just start with the Transformation itself, and build the movie forward and backwards from it. AWIL had a huge payoff and a big build up to the Transformation. This showed it all in the Trailer and there wasn't much of a surprise to look forward to after that. For what it was, it was fine, and there may be a longer TF cut somewhere that will come out after a while and maybe that will be even better than what we got. And Rose does really cool stuff, and she's getting better. My gripe with her work is it's almost the same Transformation every time. Crunches and groans and screams and then masturbation into growls and rolling around on the floor with the snoot growth at the end. The biggest difference between her clips is the way she gets to the transformation. BUT. She's learning, and she's already improved so much that it's actually on par with a lot of lower budget films of the past. I expect her stuff to have more flaws because she doesn't have the 50+ years of Werewolf film making techniques of Hollywood.

Re: Viking Wolf on Netflix friday
I didn't think the movie was that bad. It was good for a werewolf horror film, plenty of blood and death. The transformation was what I expected from the preview, I was just hoping there was more to it, like a revert or it happening again to her. I never liked the transform once and be a wolf forever story, ala Ginger Snaps. I'd give it a 6/10. Let's hope other director's try to tackle the very difficult female werewolf transformation.

Re: Viking Wolf on Netflix friday
This seems to be a recurring trend among a lot of contemporary "were-entertainment" these days: None of them make even the most minimal amount of effort to provide a cool transformation scene. Hell, even non-fetishists know transformation scenes are the werewolf equivalent of the shower sequence from Psycho. They should be a no-brainer ever since An American Werewolf in London came out. But today's filmmakers seem to gear their movies strictly towards the Twilight crowd.
