Any ideas?

I'm not going to bother with actual puzzles (like, 100-piece puzzles) because you can already get a JPG Puzzle maker (I found a flash version here that works pretty well [note, not a tf game, just a flash game that uses jpgs you have on your computer]).

And while that little game is fun, it's entirely text-based. I don't have a problem with that, but it's basically a story game with a puzzle element.

Re: TF Flash Game

Thought about it, along with my original idea of the end product being an actual animal, but there are limitations. And the primary limitation is my lack of artistic ability.

Adding ears and a tail to a sprite is easy. Removing the coat would require imaginitive drawing for what is supposed to be there, and that's something I really cannot do.

Though I did get better as I went along with this as I drew those sideways pictures. It's still in the realm of possibility, I guess.

Re: TF Flash Game

Ok, here's the tradeoff.

I've decided to put actual effort into the animations rather than do the cheap cop-out I was planning on (hence the post-script in an earlier post of mine that can now be disregarded). However, this is also making it take a lot longer. So, anyone who was expecting it today or tomorrow, now would be a good time to suspend those expectations.

Still been trying to think of what I would do for a new game. Don't know if I want to do a puzzle game, a story game, a mix, neither, what.

As for a status report, there are seven stages and I've done one. But the first one is always the hardest! Also I had no stage designs for this stage so it took a while to think one up. It's hard, but I think you'll like it. Definitely shows off the code that Tolka wrote for me. Never would've worked without it.

I probably would've gotten a lot more done today without the constant distractions. If I get several free hours tomorrow then I could potentially get it done by this time tomorrow. I'm gonna get done what I can before bed and try to brainstorm the rest of the stages before I get to sleep.

Re: TF Flash Game

Good luck with that, this is very Cool. The Small easter Egg was a pleasant suprise, as well. One more thing, if you could put your hardest into making ALL of the stages, that'd be awesome. I really think this may be one of the best things on the site.

Re: TF Flash Game

Considering how much effort it's taking just to get these last seven levels done, I'd put that into 'questionable' territory.

I learned how to streamline the level creation, but the animations are still increcibly tedious. If I had taken the cop-out earlier, I would have been done ages ago. As it is, I've finished three of the seven final levels. Fortunately, as I said before, I at least have a plan in place for the level design, so that won't take long to do, but I still have to do the animation process, which takes ages.

I'd be far more inclined to do a puzzle game for an encore performance (Assuming I can get ideas for it) as they're much easier.

Take your time...If you have more important things to do, then by all means do those...I'm sure we can wait for it to be done as long as it eventually does...If it takes awhile, then so be it....No need to rush....

Re: TF Flash Game

More important things, like playing Freecell and watching football? =x

Anyway, I'm gonna be gone for a few days and figured you'd all want a present. (Mainly because everyone will lose interest if I prolong this any longer, but hey).

Things are sketchy because it's a copy/paste from the real file, and for some reason Flash has a hard time duplicating series of ones and zeroes properly. I tested them briefly just for functionality and it looks like everything works.

Once again, this is only the first three levels of the final stage. I might do another preview update upon completion of the next two, but I hope to just get through the last four all at once and get the final release out.

And finally, I'm still open for ideas on a new game--one that isn't platforming.

Re: TF Flash Game

You really need to work on the hit detection in the water level.

Beautiful!
The fact that you spend the entire last level as an Eevee and try to avoid evolving is a great concept, really looking forward to the rest of he level!

The hit detection in every level is different because the sprite is nearly two times larger. Draw a box around the extremeties on the left, right, top, and bottom, and you'll see what I mean.

If you take it slowly you can easily avoid everything. I can pass these stages 100% of the time without even trying. Of course, I made them, but still.

I purposefully make these stages such that you can't just hold forward or up+forward to win, but I also don't make them with impossibility in mind. The goal is to make it fun and challenging.

To be honest I'm surprised you weren't complaining about the fire level, considering it's much harder and you'll feel like you've been unfairly hit all the time.

Re: TF Flash Game

Quick Question: Are you still going to make the sky and arctic levels, and such? I'm looking forward to that part, too. Sorry if I'm asking for too much... Dx
