You are correct. That's part of the reason I made my signature, but it seems to have worked as well as I thought it.... wouldn't.

Though I suppose the argument could be made that why should someone spend three days searching for something that he could get in one minute by asking.

It's kind of like when you go to the grocery store and ask where the pickles are. Sure you could have walked up and down the aisles for hours looking, but now you know exactly where they are.

*shrugs* seems to me that being a little helpful isnt THAT horrible of a chore, is it? Granted, I do agree with no requests from artists, and sure, he could have just asked shydude in a PM...

Okay, I don't even know where I was going with this. I say, especially if you KNOW the name of the artist here, just PM them with the question, rather then cluttering up the board.

Surely the real issue is that 95% of the time, if you do a google search or check the forums, you'll be able to find what you're looking for in 5 minutes. Plus that requests just encourage dependency.

In this case, a quick Google search for "shydude" takes takes thirty seconds, tops (his page the #1 result). How much time was saved by seeking an answer here?

Spoon-feeding those who won't do anything for themselves isn't being "helpful"; it merely promotes helplessness. If you really want to help them, make them do a little work for a change.

Pickles. Usually can be located near picnic supplies in spring, also tend to be with other canned goods. That eliminates 90% of the store. Check the canned goods section, and if that fails, ask an associate.

What we'd like to see happen with requests is "ask google and anything else that makes sense, then ask in the forum." I can assure you, before I tell someone requests are prohibited, I hit ctrl+n g <what they're looking for> enter. In opera, that opens a new tab and runs a google search for whatever you type in.

And yes, "g shydude" brings up his deviantArt page as the first result. It took me 20 seconds, mostly because my cable sucks.

We'll help people, but first we want them to help themselves.

Quite.

No one ever turns up saying "Hey guys, I've tried searching x,y and z - so does anyone know where I might find them?" They always turn up and say "WHERE IS THIS GUY?!"

"Hey guys, I've tried searching Siren Song, transform.to, and Process - so does anyone know where I might find Male > Female Anthro Feline sequences?"

I've been meaning to ask that for a long time. :P

(I know about Mako's Kitty Kitty and Tomb of Sepa, looking for others if they exist.)

Posting a request on a forum is supposed to be an "End of your rope" maneuver, not a "I'm too lazy to look."

That said, Hiro, I've never seen any besides the Siren Song ones. Tough luck?

I know, I was primarily posting that as a joke. Probably a bad choice for 1st Post, though.

Apparently so. One of these days I'll just have to suck it up and commission something.
