I'm so glad I can't see avatars. So much nicer without them. Now that I know it's there, I feel compelled to say something.

I hate Disney about as much as anyone in the world, but I ask you to please not do that. The only time it's acceptable to compare someone to Hitler or the Nazi Party is when they have engaged in literal mass genocide. Using lazy shorthand to exaggerate your opponent's flaws does nothing to further your cause. It only serves to put in perspective how relatively minor Disney's sins are.

I think Mr. Pratt would like it if we all fell to our knees and kissed our sisters every time he posted.

I can only guess. Forums never seem as bad to me as their reputations indicate. The combination of being on the inside, not reading every thread, and the fact that most comments outside any forum come from banned users makes it hard to judge the true atmosphere. I suspect it's one of two reasons: because we have rules, we have a focus you don't see on Transfur and other sites that let you slap up any old thing vaguely related to why people come here in the first place, and because some of our members are dicks. There was a lot more dickery in the past, as far as I've seen. Once some of our more infamous members moved on, it got a whole lot mellower. I know I like coming here now more than I did then.

I like judging. Judging is good, in moderation. More than 0, less than 100. You have to do it the right way, and you have to keep doing it. Comfort should also come in moderation.

Snowglare's not wrong.

It's a polarizing statement meant to spark discussion of corporate politics.
Now, could I have picked a better ideal? Sure, Red Communism or laissez-faire capitalism.
Issue being, neither has a ready-made icon of what's wrong with that system, and I'm not about to throw time and money away on a whim.

My point being, you all are willing to discard what I say based on the image I have of a major corporation; that illustrates willful ignorance and a rush to judgment, ironically both factors in allowing the NSDAP to gain the stranglehold it enjoyed in the first place. We all need to be cautious of corporate influence, because down that road lies dictatorship and fascism that is more difficult to battle once it becomes entrenched in the collective psyche.

I hope this makes a bit of sense.
I really think it's just the history of this place. Lorekeep (all due respect) was/is a very opinionated individual who was a hands-off moderator. So as a result I feel like it just became normal around here for a newbie to post and then get like 5 responses, "THIS ISN'T NEW, NOT ENOUGH PROCESS, WRONG SECTION, I CAN'T FAP TO THIS" That's not a nice atmosphere. So I wish for the same thing you do as far as tolerance and what-not, but it's never been that way as far back as I remember.

Re: Suggested Forum Guidelines

The problem is, nobody reads stickies or pays attention to stickies or bothered much to read the rules when LK had them up.

So we do the best we can do.

Re: Suggested Forum Guidelines

Eh, most of the hostility on it has never been necessary, but yeah, it's never had good management.

Nothing said in the post is particularly wrong, but also it lacks any weight. At the end of the day, without management, a forum is a representation of the rules agreed on by the crowd of the second, which changes moment to moment.
