Cell
There's a movie* coming out in 2009 directed by Eli Roth called "Cell" based on a 2006 book in which a simultaneous phone call on Cell Phones** turns the world's population into zombies.
Now, I'm not big on the whole zombie fetish but apparently there's also a mutation theme. Although it may be a long shot, some of you guys might be interested in keeping an eye out for it. Better yet, has anybody read the book? For the British: * Film ** Mobile Phone

Re: Cell
In the book they don't mutate, they just gain a wierd hive mind.

Re: Cell
If I'm not mistaken, the book is by Steven King. What is it with Hollywood recently making films based off his novels and other old Japanese movies? The Mist and 1408 were kinda recent by Steven King and The Grudge and One Missed Call are remakes of old Japanese movies. There's a conspiracy afoot!
Oh yeah, and in the book it's more of a mental transformation if anything, which also assumes I'm remembering the right book. |

Re: Cell
I'm keeping an eye out for it because I'm a big fan of horror, and this could be quite excellent. But I'm not going to hold out for any decent process like mutation as such.

Re: Cell
Yes, I believe the King book has everyone on Cell phones become murderous zombie types but eventually become... uh, some kind of telekinetic hive mind or something? I've only read the plot summary on wiki.

Re: Cell
Sounds like a modern-day approach to his old story, Tommyknockers.

Re: Cell
As many books as Stephen King puts out, you'd think they could make movies out of some of the better ones nowadays. I'd love to see a modern 'Salem's Lot in the theatre someday. One of his best, and first, novels that takes a very good look at the old vampire myths. Cell is original, for certain, but not exactly the best of his works.
