Re: I FUCKING HATE "The Dark Knight" FANBOYS!!!!
Elmo....been meaning to ask...
Is English your first language? Not trying to be mean but...wow, it's like I need a codebook to understand what you're saying sometimes. Also : I agree with the main thrust of Hellstromm's post. It does seem (like with everybody hyping JJ Abrams' potential Star Trek to the extent of deriding the sixties series) that with the release of The Dark Knight, history is being revised to mock all that came before. Was The Dark Knight a good movie? Yes. Was it better than Batman Begins, Batman and Robin, Batman Forever and Batman Returns? Yes. Better than 1989's Batman? No. At least not in my view but to be less biased.... 1) TDK could have used a better editor. There was alot of shit in that movie that could have been done away with and made the film a much tighter performance piece. 2) Christian Bale has alot to learn about making his voice sound different BUT still being intelligible. 3) Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson both gave two great performances as two different versions of the Joker. Relax, people. You're doing no disrespect to Ledger's memory if you recognize Nicholson's performance, as well. Plus, also stop acting like they can no longer use The Joker character because of his death. It's a character. There can be different actors portraying him.

Re: I FUCKING HATE "The Dark Knight" FANBOYS!!!!
Jack N. had a longer life and career so of COURSE hes done more! Ledger would have been doing tons of movies after this threw him in the spotlight. And Jack played a great Joker for the movie he was in, but the tone of both movies were different.
When you say the movie should stay true to the comic book rather than be realistic, thats an Opinion. Your welcome to have it but you cant say everyone else is wrong for having an opposing view. And sure the SM movie had the sand man... Too bad his back story was torn to shit. And Osborn? story was changed. Weather or not you think the movie went along with the comics ( and the atmosphere did a great job at that ) Ledgers acting was Incredible. You didnt see Ledger, you saw only the joker. Yes, Dent was played incredibly well, every actor did an impressive job and i think Dent still stood out as great. Quote:

English is elmos first language. American isn't. And I notice no spilling arrows in his post. (I used spill cheek on these pots)

And if you ask me, a Spider-Fan, Spidey could use some form of a reboot after the third film =/ I would have loved to have seen Venom done right, by means of being based off of the 90's cartoon origin. And Sandman could have been saved for some kind of variant of the Sinister Six. Plus, if Raimi "knows comic book accuracy", he would have had Harry become a non-snowboarding Green Goblin, become addicted to the super-human drug, die, and have Norman come back alive and well enough to fight Spidey again. And stay alive afterward. And finally, it would not had mattered if The Dark Knight's existence were dependable on Spider-Man. I think you're denying the fact that Superman and Batman started the comic book film trend. Last edited by JBird; 08-15-2008 at 04:16 PM. |

Re: I FUCKING HATE "The Dark Knight" FANBOYS!!!!
He makes good points, yeah he got too worked up over this, but some of the behavior of TDK fanboys is just absurd. How about the fact that they have intentionally been flooding IMDB with perfect scores for TDK, and horrendous scores for The Godfather just to get their precious movie on the top of the list?
Amazing comic movie? Hell yes, arguably the best yet. Best movie of all time? My ass it is. On a side note, I really do feel sorry for Raimi with regards to the third film. Had he been allowed to do it the way he wanted, it could have been amazing. But the fans and thus the higher-ups insisted on Venom, and he was forced to change the script. The result was the disappointing film we all love to hate.

Re: I FUCKING HATE "The Dark Knight" FANBOYS!!!!
A lot of the newer comic book movies are NOT just comic book movies. They have a lot of depth. One of the flicks that started that trend was Unbreakable.

Ok let me get this off my chest right now so it's all on the up and up.
I've seen Dark Knight 3 times so far this summer. It was an honor I had so far only given to IronMan and W*ALL-E (I love that little bot) up till that point. ok so heres just a little oppinion based of what I've seen You can not compare Jokers. . .period To compair Ledger to Nickelson would be like compairing Nickleson to Romaro. To each there own Joker. Personal I think the best person EVER to play Joker is Mark Hamil (Batman:TAS, and Batman Beyond, And Justice League) He had about him an air of a man who was genuinly funny but at a momets notice could remind you that he is a complet PSYCO. Ledger did a good job of makeing a realistic version of this Joker. At times he was quite funny ("I just want my phone call") and at times he was truly loony toons ("I want you to HIT ME!!") so as far as me, I like Ledger over Nickelson (Who was quite good don't get me wrong, but he was not the Joker I identfy with when I think of the Joker) The movie itself was quite good, it didn't drag and it didn't slow down. The acting was top notch and the directing left be speechless on several occations. All in all it was a good movie. . .Oscer worthy? well we'll see now won't we. As to Comic Books in general well by basic definition Comics are geared towrds younger kids however it would seem that many wrighters are understanding that kids "aint stupid no more" and can handle larger and more complex stories and more dramatic and adult plots. This insures that not only can they maintain there fan base of folks who grew up (and have thus grown up) with the comic and have matured but also those fresh to the world. I compair it to "Super Sentai" (the japanese show on which "Power Rangers" is loosley based) Knowing that many of the folks sitting down on saturday morning watching the newist Sentai with their kids are the former kids who where watching it in the 70's and 80's (yes it's been around 30 years) they have made a show enjoyable to kids but one that parents can get a kick out of as well. Batman the animated series was a GROUNDBREAKING show. To this day I still get a lump in my throte seeing episodes like "My Silicone Soul" and that I think is do to a more mature wrighting style (hell it won Emmy's for cris'sake) that kind of staying power is something animation today lacks badly. Alto I am a fan of "The Batman" and "Teen Titans" I don't own the dvd's as I do not see myself remaining a diehard fan of these shows into my later years. As to other Comic Book movies. well thears the good, Spider-Man 1/2, X-Men 1/2, Incredable Hulk, IronMan, Punisher, V for Vendeta, Batman Begins) The OK, Fantastic Four 1/2, Ghost Rider, DareDevil [DIRCTORS CUT ONLY], Superman 1/2, Blade 1 and 3 And The Crap, Catwoman, Superman 3-Returns, X-Men 3, SPIDER-MAN 3 (nearly unwatchable) Electra (even knowing that theres a Girl/Girl kiss later in the movie I've never been able to watch it long enought to get to it) Blade 2, Hulk but these are just my oppinions take them as you will DekaPrime (please pardon my spelling and grammer it is quite late and at the moment I'm haveing trouble seeing clearly) |

And you make another good point: each Joker is unique and the only way to compare them is through opinion, which one you happed to like best. They each fit the theme for their movie/show as needed. And JBird, your sig is my favorite dialog from my favorite episode =D |
