Great game monomonkey! XD, I had quite a bit of fun playing it. The 3rd level of the neighborhood is a little buggy though, kept restarting from the beginning when I touched one of those mousetraps. Other than that, everything ran pretty smoothly. The sprites are real nice too! Keep up the great work!

You're actually supposed to be reset when you hit one of the mousetraps.

That flash of white was intended to cover up the transition between where you were when you got hit and the original position.

In other news I've begun work on the Jungle stage. Since I have literally no creativity whatsoever it will be similar to what was suggested.

I've done Jungle-1 so far. I'm actually satisfied with the result. It's challenging and fun. I don't think I'll have a problem with the croc idea or the tiger idea. I don't like the way the snake sprite turned out and I have the feeling the vine mechanics will be harder than I can handle so for now I'm going to leave that one out.

I have work tomorrow but as I said, I have all weekend ahead of me. Best case scenario is the three Jungle animals--Monkey, Crocodile, and Tiger--will be done by tomorrow night.

Re: TF Flash Game

Well I tried your 4th Ed...and I must say it's certainly a lot smoother now.

I did notice in the woods level 1 that the crop and forest signs had you auto climb on them when you went near. I thought it was a fluke but 10/10 it would do it. Other than that I didn't see or have any problems with it.

Re: TF Flash Game

Ack. I know why. Thanks for pointing that out.

Revision 5 will have a lot of other tweaks aside from just the first testing of the Jungle stage.

Edit: and fixed. Gonna post a little list of updates so I don't forget to update the first post with them later. Also so you can see I'm not slacking off.

Ver. 0.4: Jungle stage added! Minor tweak to the jumping mechanics. Stop continuation of "dodge" games upon failure to complete stage. Fixed being behind hay in Farm-2. Added walls to prevent "hop-up" on Woods-1 signs.

I haven't finished Revision 5. I just posted the notes so I wouldn't forget to update the first post with them later.

I'll be working on it here after I finish dinner. Just got home from work.

I'll PM you my AIM.

I had only done the first three stages and decided to get motivation, ideas, and code help, I'd post it here. Needless to say, it worked.

Re: TF Flash Game

I'm a little late, but at least it's done! The Jungle stage has been added!

Now, I had a thought about halfway into making the default stage layout for the Jungle. Not really a thought as much as it was Flash telling me THIS IS GOING TO LAG. If you don't mind how simplistic the Jungle stage looks (and assuming it doesn't lag) then I might go back and revise the Forest stage as well to be similar to this. I can't measure lag with my machine, unfortunately, unless it's so bad that it takes Flash 5 seconds to realize I've clicked on something. Yeah, the original design scheme for the Jungle was pretty harsh. It looked better, I'll give it that, but I bet a lot of people would've had problems.

-Insert standard message here about needing ideas-

I need ideas. Progress on this is now at a standstill because I have no ideas.

Don't like something I did with a stage? Let me know. Have an idea for a new stage? Let me know. Want me to fix something or change something that doesn't quite work? Let me know.

Also, @Tabby: I drew up the sprites for your idea (just for level 1-1 though, so just the cat). I might just work the concept into a new game entirely. To be honest I have no idea how to implement it with the mechanics in place now. Would the state carry over into 1-2? How would I explain it not carrying over (because right now carrying it over would require me to re-do every animation in the game)?

At this point it seems if I want to use your idea I should just make a new game with only the popular animals and actually make it a mode where you transform to overcome obstacles. For example, cats can jump higher, dogs are faster, mice can fit through smaller spaces, etc. I would just bind the transformations to number keys and maybe add a timer onto them so you can't just stay in that state and cheat, or maybe make it a puzzle game where you can only use x number of transformations per animal to solve the puzzle. I dunno.
