Yeah, I'm waiting for them to get back to me - apparently the site was creating performance issues... which means either that the popularity of the site exploded when I wasn't paying attention or - more likely - the Digg ripoff that I use (Pligg) went nuts and started whoring resources.

Hopefully, I'll be able to resolve the issue with my current webhost - if not, I'll endeavour to move to someone else and such.

Although, that's probably fairly trivial compared to the red panda threat - as it's powered by a red sun, not even superman can stop it.

You aren't the first person I've heard complain about Digg or Pligg whoring resources. What the heck does that type of site/software do? Crazy!

I'm not an expert on coding but from my reading and familiarity with Pligg... it's not a constant problem but rather, sloppy coding - which is pretty funny, given that Pligg is kind of stalling in its core development and moving toward the shiny bells and whistles that they can sell... but eh, you get what you pay for - which means that from time to time, the site will either decide to shuffle through your database or make literally thousands of DB requests.

I had - naively - thought that this issue had been resolved but clearly, it wasn't. I suppose I should go and moan on the Pligg forum...

Just to update people - my webhost has agreed to put FTF10 back if I can rectify the problem... if anyone has any knowledge of Pligg or mysql request issues - now is the time to say something.

Hopefully I should have a temporary patch or something soon.
