Default Re: Is It Illegal To Be Overweight In Japan? OHMY!

A friend fractured her cheek and jaw while living in Germany. I was really impressed with the treatment she recieved, despite not being a citizen. She required extensive cosmetic work to return her face to it's previous state (it had begun to heal in a mangled position.) Didn't pay a penny though.

I'm all for denying the fatties healthcare. If you're not making an investment in your health, why should the healthcare system? Being obese = extra healthcare costs. The government shouldn't reward people for unnecessarily costing them big money due to their choice to be fat.

I do think the margins people are expected to conform to in Japan are unrealistic though. Being a lardass and carrying some extra weight just aren't the same thing. You can be overweight and healthy as a horse. There's not a chance you'll be without health complications if you're enormous though.

Also, "landwhales" made me chuckle.
