Re: Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader

I think the post right before mine summarizes why people who enjoy the growth process are so terribly disappointed in this movie. They could have easily made a few creative growth scenes. Yeah, I know this movie doesn't cater to our fetish and neither did the Pirates of the Carribean. And THAT is how you do a Hollywood growth scene. I know their budget was much smaller in comparison but the effects were much much worse than I had anticipated.

I think the issue I have is that it doesn't sound like a million-dollar film, unless they blew the entire budget on transportation. To put it in perspective, Paranormal Activity had a budget of 15 thousand, and garnered enough attention to spawn two equally crappy sequels, off of a non-existent plotline and fantastic camera work. From what I'm reading, it's the opposite here; it sounds like they had a good story arc, but that the camera effects ruined the suspension of disbelief.

Yeah, the growth scenes were pretty uninspired, particularly the "bad" cheerleader's second spurt, which takes place out over one, flat shot. Some intercutting certainly would've made things more dynamic. To be honest, I found the whole ending/climax of the movie to be pretty dull from a cutting perspective. The director seemed to have a thing for playing out the sequence in a couple of uninteresting, wide angles. Maybe it was a budgetary thing.

Weirdly enough, the most interesting growth scene wasn't in the movie but in a promotional commercial for the movie.

Re: Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader

I'm no technical/editing expert, but from what I've seen from clips produced by Gary (Giantesszone) doesn't all it take to make a giantess and growth effect in a movie are a green screen, and a few adobe programs? I mean these shouldn't cost THAT much seeing as how Gary himself and Tomthumb work with a much smaller budget.

I mean, in the first growth scene, there's no green screen effect at all. I can forgive that since all they had to do was simply move parts of her clothing up a bit or make her limbs look like they are stretching out. (i.e: A sideways shot of just her legs and her sliding them moving from one edge to the next.) Attack of the 50 Foot Woman did this effect pretty well and they had a much bigger budget I assume. So either I'm missing something and I'm just blindly speculating, or there might have been a lack of creativity in the editing room.

Gary does have better effects, as well as others. He is into this fetish as well. He takes the time to make his movies as convincing as possible since he knows his clientelle and he enjoys what he does.

The first growth scene was a foreshadowing of things to come. Her shirt splits, she stands up, and voila: she's seven feet tall. And her response was like "eh, I'm cool with it." That was definitely a head scratcher for me. No process, and little response from the main character. Definitely an "uh oh" moment for me.

Re: Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader

From my point of view, I didn't expect much and wasn't disappointed, there was quite a bit of clothing bursting/ripping and the ripping effect was decent not "oh look a tear" and then the whole thing falls off, the "hot chicks" were actually attractive maybe not super hot but better than most of what I've seen from the college movies on netflix. Unlike 50ft woman, there was nudity which I thought was a major drawback from the darryl hannah growth scene (although her process was probably one of the best ever)

Plot wise it was about what you'd expect, honestly you can't expect a "realistic" plot involving a girl growing to 50ft tall. This to me was like a cross between 50ft woman and 60ft centerfold, all in all I enjoyed it for what it was.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I just felt there were some opportunities lost with this movie. I didn't hate it, I love seeing beautiful giantesses. Period. But disappointed all the same. Maybe the DVD version will have some neat deleted scenes.

Re: Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader

During the first minutes I thought it was the worst and worst acted movie ever. Come on, she becomes "pretty" because she takes off her glasses? Seriously? And besides, her friend with the dyed hair was much prettier than her :P
But when she starts to grow, and the fail plot kicks in, it actually becomes kind of fun. I enjoyed it, taking it for what it is. Still much funnier than Video Game High School (the freddiew web series).

I made some screenshots in case you haven't seen it yet. Click to enlarge.

I've not yet seen the movie, but from accounts it seems a shame the goth/punk looking girl with the dyed hair doesn't grow. Would have preferred she did rather than the blonde.
