The second is an SSA file. It's not recognized everywhere, but where it works it's better because the font and size are specified, so the subtitles should work better.

Instructions on using it are for VLC Media Player (download it here). Other players should recognize it; check their documentation for more information.

Put the subtitle file in the same directory as your Expelled video file. Rename it to match. For example, if the video file is "expelled.avi" then name the file "expelled.srt"; if the video file is "Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed.mp4", name the file "Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed.srt" (note: keep all extensions the same as they were).

For VLC (and most other video players), this should Just Work. If it doesn't:

Right-click the screen; go to "Video/Subtitles Track/Load File..." Select the subtitle file in the dialog box.
If that doesn't work, then click the Video menu at the top and go to "Subtitles Track/Load File..." Select the subtitle file in the dialog box.
If that doesn't work, go to "Media/Advanced Open File...", click on your video, check "Use a subtitles file", click "Browse...", select the subtitle file, then click Open, and then Play.

If none of that works, locate a small child and ask for assistance. Tongue

The subtitles start up right at the start of the movie itself, right after the unnecessarily-long Premise Media promo. If it shows up before or after, then know that this lag is on your system. Hopefully it won't lead to any confusion as you watch.

Oh, that is fucking hilarious (though I imagine the film if overwhelmed by subtitles. Perhaps the subs are all one needs.)

Some doucher (he referred to himself as a doctor but none of his degrees were recognised in Washington) from the Discovery Institute hosted a free viewing of Expelled followed by a Q&A session a few months back. My friends and I only got a few questions in. We fucking stumped him though. Soon as he caught onto the perspective many of us in the group subscribed to he wouldn't take our questions or respond to us.

The banana analogy is riddled with flaws but did anyone catch the worst one of all? Produce sold bananas are shaped just right for your hands because humans bred them that way. Bananas in nature aren't shaped near so perfectly.

Why they're long and curved? Because the monkeys picked the ones that were easiest to grip and those are the ones that spread their seeds. Natural selection as always.

One particular claim Comfort made about his banana is that it opens away from his face, ensuring none of the contents squirt him in the eye. Only gawd could have created something so perfect for our consumption! At this point, I've always wanted to turn the banana around and put it back in his hand.

Actually they generally arent very long or curved (discounting cultivated varieties)

Speaking of the banana man, Dr. Eugenie C. Scott does a nice job of analyzing (and ridiculing) his recent (failed) attempt to expose holes in the theory or evolution and the book "The Origin of Species" while lending credibility (snrk) to creationism here.
