Re: Spinnerette
I saw this bit coming about Dr. Universe making a deal with Spinny to cure MechaMaid... months ago. I don't know if it'll actually work out for anybody, but when you've got an scientist super villain and a terminally ill superhero eventually someone makes this kind of deal.

Re: Spinnerette
They pretty much put the kibosh on Universe curing Mecha Maid in the second-to-last panel. I wasn't a fan of this story arc, between the non-stop dialog, unfunny story, odd art (check out Dr U trying to poke his head through his own word balloons in panel 6) and deus ex machina ending.

Re: Spinnerette
Nah, I think she'll still ask that he try, it's not like he can't research. Heck, he could probably kidnap MM, and ask her to volunteer to die in order to find the cure for the condition so that no one else would have to suffer from it. Spinny will have left out the detail to Dr. U that MM is specifically who she wanted to save and it will ultimately be super tragic because the cure will be found and MM will die anyway, and Heather will blame herself for ever suggesting Dr. Universe look for that cure.
That's what happens if the comic keeps going down this darker path. Or.. he just very generically and in the most cliche move ever, clones Spinnerette a bunch of times from the arms. Or in some stupid twist we find out that the Heather he's been talking to IS a clone made from one of her arms and the real Spinny is being made into a replacement reactor. All kinds of crazy stupid shit could still happen. Last edited by TF-Viewer; 08-24-2012 at 03:13 PM. |

Re: Spinnerette
Yanno, with the "cheating a bunch of bastard racists who paid them for a pair of clones, and actually making the clones instead for none other than Henry-managed-to-make-peace-with-commie-China-Kissinger(someone of jewish descent in fact, for double-slap to the fast of the cheated supernazis), the truth is I actually wonder if instead of Spinerette "heading down a darker part" it's not rather more "Dr.Universe is not as much of a puppy-killing-in-the-name-of-SCIENCE" than we were led to originally think.
Kinda like what they did with "Evil" Spinerette who actually beat up Spinerette, yes, but verily left her alive without nothing more seriously wounded than her pride because she just wanted to show her she was "better" than her. Jerkass, very dubious means. Certainly not an "heroic".... but still not a souless baby-munching monster as we would originally think.

Re: Spinnerette
Honestly, Greta seems more like a "reluctant antihero" type, somewhat like Deadpool without the insanity / awesomeness.
As for Universe, he strikes me as being so over-the-top maniacally villainous, that it's entirely possible that that part of his personality could overshadow his shitty bargaining skills. Just my impression. ![]()

Re: Spinnerette
So to date, has Doc U or Greta been shown harming anyone in a way that doesn't specifically further their objectives?
I don't think Universe was going to let her die from the beginning. Not that he woudlnt use her as a reactor after her death, or that he wasn't hoping she would steal the C-K reactor for him, but I think he's simply not that much of a bastard in the first place. And anyway a favor can be a huge bargaining chip. Even Evil has standards. Either that or it's More than mind control Last edited by KeiichiRX7; 08-25-2012 at 04:42 PM. |

Re: Spinnerette
Well, that's basically was my thought.
His very revearsal about the "We shall cut you up in the name of SCIENCE!" sounds actually -much- less like "changing ideas on a maniachal whim" and more that he wasn't planning to kill her in the first place, but rather playing on what -she- was expecting out of him to make his point. I.e.: "You expected me to cut you up and kill you, but I'm sorry I'll have to disapoint you." Then again, his mention of his time as a prisoner, or his "escape" before that and so on, makes one thing he might have seen stuff even he would rather not admit to seeing. So yes, he almost seems like he can be pushy, not care about laws(judging by how he went and "fetched" the genetic infusion machine") and so on.... but not utterly without morals or conscience.
