Why not just use RPG maker VX Ace?
it is wysi wyg Ruby but there are options to script if you have the nack http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/products/rpg-maker-vx-ace I know steam has it's summer and winter sale that knock the price down to $30 for the game and all addons. If you not content to wait there is the lite version. It has fewer characters in it's database and you cannot script but you can still import. http://tryace.rpgmakerweb.com/download-lite/ I will try and whip something simple together in the next few weeks. |

I made the full CGF clone in Ren'Py in three days of hardcore programming (about 5 hours each day?). Then I started adding frills. So making an RPG version shouldn't be so hard, no?

On my behalf, I really haven't done anything. A lot of prose writing might need to be done though, most of the text as it is now sucks and only acts as a placeholder for the engine. Maybe I'll turn it into a proper game even. I dunno. |

This is a little different than Ren'Py while your story line is the same you utilize parallax maps and a linear story rpg maker allows for more open game play by the end user.
I have the maps set worlds are connected I am trying to figure how the objectives to make her milk. The game is set more like final fantasy (you go around fight monsters level up. I am setting timers right now but it is rather tough keeping track of all the parallel processes and events. It uses ruby to advance the game further than which to most is a rather obscure language. I'll post something by this week it will not have anything fancy and the cow girl will not even be a real cowgirl just a place holder for the cow girl. If there are any sprite artists who see this and want to contribute I welcome any and all help. |

Merp, some updates.
The engine is 100% done now. Yups. I'm now working on a complete graphical overhaul. Before it used the default buttons and stuff from RenPy and I just added some lazy backrounds, so it looked pastel and girly. Now, I've changed it to a more sophisicated design, and it looks amazing. Really, you'll love it. Before, the email interface was a nightmare, so I've been changing that as well. AND! This weekend I might go to Berlin. Whats the first I'm gonna do? BUY A FUCKING PENDRIVE. Hell yeah. Its gonna happen. You'll get your games before scheduele. Its gonna be like Christmas. Hopefully. --- Edit: If anyone can come up with an interesting NPC, shout it out. I'll add it in. Here is what I fell comfortable showing so far. It is bare bones you can walk into the house in the barn. There is a girl sprite you can talk to she is a marker for the future cowgirl. Forgive the artwork it is just via random generator built in.
The file is an exe install. I know you computer is going to have a shit fit but trust me it is just a game nothing malicious. Things this game will eventually have Day/Night Garden to grow special vegetables (boobs bigger more milk) Forest to fight animals and get seeds (plant in vegetable garden) Market: 1 to buy items (health potions better weapons/ pumps outfits ect 2 buy more cowgirls While the other maps are ready they are on other games and I still am tweaking them. If anyone would like to say do some art for this or anything I am open for any and all help remember if you get lite you can work on this game as well, just no independent coding. |

Here you go. I have an aerial view of the farm (your field of vision is smaller during game play) and 2 text presentations (only 2 currently in the game.) Again rather bland at the moment I am still working on stuff. I have a string of code that I made for another game that should allow me to plant corps and allow for re-spawn times (say if you miss treat one of the cow girls)

Waaaaah! It makes me want to code in a 2d overworld enviroment for my own version... But I won't do that. It would be redudndant considering how I made the GUI. Still, the 2d overworld is really visually appealing. Also its not a matter of running .exes.... I simply can't download anything. |

Most of it is just wysiwyg If I wanted to straight code it that would take a little more time but it can be done. I am still trying to adjust the code for the timers to allow plant growth. Probably should have copy pasta from one of the forums but I like the fact that I can do it myself.

Now, if there was a way to merge Python code into RPG Makers Ruby code... Or even a way to port RPG Makers code into Ren'Py... We could make the ultimate game chimera. Kinda impossible though, methinks. But its really cool to have someone run parallel with me. It's warming in a way. Anyhoo. Updates on my behalf: -You can now (properly) reply to emails, and depending on your replies, the NPC's will reply one thing or another. -New GUI is completely done (except for two little minor details). It looks like awesome. Also added in backround music ripped from the Horizon Anime OST. -Cow personality is now even more complex. Added in some hidden (but discoverable) variables such as "Impulsiveness", "Modesty", "Thrillseeking", "Imagination", etc. I want to eventually merge this with MBTI Personality Typology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-B...Type_Indicator. (Trivia: I'm an ENTP) -Added in two different cow "Sub-types". Sun and Moon (Each cow will have a breed and a subtype.). Moon cows are more primitive, more animalistic. They don't talk (and because of that, they are cuter IMO). Sun cows are more humanlike and intelligent, and they can talk. -Current NPC's: Comma D'Aifen (your mentor at the beginning), Apos Trophy (calm neighbour), Ceddy Ylle (genki-girl neighbour), Anonymous Hacker (will playfully annoy you with moral dillemmas every now and then, but is not much of a threat per se), The Government (*wink-wink*), The Church of Dawn. Then some companies such as: Obelus (AKA McDonalds but for Milkshakes), Nakaguro (Regular Milk sellers), Lozenge (AKA L'Oréal), Prime (Gourmet buisness). I'll be adding more. |
